  1. Home run Beer Nuts. With the way the Cubs hit Duke and lefties in general, this game is seemingly out of reach.
  2. Aramis has a good approach, he's just off. I'm still optimistic he'll break out of it. It's just frustrating to watch him slump at a time we desperately need him. His OBP is still higher than Pierre's.
  3. Much better inning for Guzman, albeit against the Pirates' weakest hitters.
  4. Pop-ups seem to be the preferred way Aramis makes his outs these days.
  5. Guzman will be lucky to get through five at the rate he is going. 2-0 Pirates on the WP.
  6. Go ahead run at the plate. Buckle down Demp.
  7. http://img311.imageshack.us/img311/1679/hawksux1hs.jpg Why? It isnt hard to imagine Hawk as one. Worst. Photoshop. Ever. :)
  8. Well, with Grissom in retirement, it'd be awfully hard for him to play ahead of Murton - not that Dusty wouldn't somehow try.
  9. I'm thankful Mayberry struck out. They weren't going to score even if he got on. Now Marshall gets to pitch another inning and the line-up flips over.
  10. Shouldn't be any question. Wouldn't be shocked to see him get lifted for a pinch hitter. It might depend if Barrett or Mabry can get on base.
  11. Nice job by Marshall pitching his way out of adversity and bad umpiring.
  12. Might as well preemptively add Zach Duke to that list.
  13. Once again, it's the Wilson, Bay, Wilson part of the order for Marshall. Keep up the good work.
  14. These innings are going by insanely quick. If I weren't listening on MLB audio and following along on Gameday, I'd swear you were pulling our legs.
  15. Not that i'm really defending Jones, but would you have advocating sitting Cedeno after getting picked off of first essentially twice? Most definitely. That was worse than Jones stupidity. With this offense (and complete lack of bench), they don't have the luxury to be sitting players to send a message. At least Jock hits right handed pitching.
  16. We really need a platoon partner for Jock. If we had one, RF would be in decent shape.
  17. Big inning for Marshall here with the heart of the Pirates order due up.
  18. Cruz vs. Hill. That ought to be....interesting.
  19. Luckily for us, Aramis, Ronny and the gang have made adjustments to prevent that. That or (what I believe to more likely to be true) the number of throwing errors Lee preventes over the average first baseman is vastly overstated.
  20. Anybody remember the people predicting the number of throwing errors on Aramis and Cedeno going up precipitously without D-Lee at first? Still waiting for that happen.
  21. Yeah, Stenson was shot in an armed robbery. The tragic and sordid details can be found under his Wikipedia entry. Veteran infielder Mike Sharperson was another guy whose career was cut short, in a car crash, when he was playing AAA in the San Diego organization. If I'm not mistaken, he spent a very brief time with the Cubs.
  22. Steve Olin and Tim Crews, both pitching for Cleveland at the time, died during spring training in a boating accident on March 1993. Veteran pitcher Bob Ojeda was also hurt in the crash and never really pitched effectively again.
