  1. Great decision not to play Ron Cedeno yesterday.
  2. Sean Marshall, best at-bat of the ballgame.
  3. Why do I think it's hilarious that they walk Hairston for Marshall?
  4. Why do you swing at a pitch a foot outside?
  5. I feel so much better watching Sean Marshall over Angel Guzman and Rich Hill. Go Sean, the pride and joy of Chesterfield County, Virginia!
  6. Cedeno steals second. Get on first, steal second (on Piazza).
  7. Shock, 0-1 show bunt, meek out. Juan Pierre.
  8. BK.... are we trying to draw valid statistical inferences here ?? If so, then sample size is the only relavent question. But I don't think that's the point of this exercise, is it ? That's what I figured you were trying to do by posting some stats in defense of tonight's lineup. Yet according to SABRnauts, line-up order is irrelevant. PS: I am totally SABR-centric and I love your write-ups on the Cubs.
  9. When I Dusty is trying to get fired! Yay! Would you care to elaborate ? This seems like a pretty reasonable lineup to me. Jones cleanup? Murton batting 6th? Horrible! Can't blame Dusty for batting Jock clean-up. He's mashing righties to the tune of .355/.579 (OBP/SLG). Frankly, I think this is the best possible line-up under the circumstances (this still doesn't forgive Dusty for starting Bynum in consecutive days and sitting both Murton and Cedeno yesterday).
  10. Christian Guzman out for the season, yet Neifi Perez remains the pillar of health. Arghhhh!
  11. Homeruns made us too one-dimensional. I know because Joe Morgan said so. Now we have more ways to not score. LOL! Sadly, Joe Morgan wasn't the only one who bought into that line of thinking. So did lots of Cub fans. But remember, speed kills!
  12. He sounds like a broken man. Somedays, I think he's going to die on the air. I once thought that too, but not so anymore. The Cubs aren't going to kill him in a blaze of frustration; no, it'll be a slow process - like a malignant cancer eating away at his insides. The Cubs are killing him slowly and by the time we notice it, it will be too late.
  13. Usually I hate the delay between the in-game action and internet audio, but tonight I am thankful for it. It allowed me turn the game off before having to listen to the final nail in the coffin.
  14. Ron Santo: "I've never seen so many hitters go after so many bad pitches."
  15. Time for Gremlin II: The New Batch to redeem himself.
  16. A "Perez" is grounding into a double play. A pop-up to the infield is - unfortunately of late - pulling an A-Ram.
  17. The bunt was the right call there. It's just that Hairston sucks at everything.
  18. He's handled it about as well as he possibly can. Not so much anger from him, as dejection and resignation. He sounds like all of the life has been sucked out of him.
  19. My wish: Bynum and Neifi get into a fight in the lockerroom and end up putting each other on the DL.
  20. I can't believe how bad this offense is. With Peavy on the hill tomorrow, I think it's a pretty good bet that we'll be staring at 3 consecutive shut-outs and at least a 32 consecutive inning scoreless drought (yes, I'm already assuming they lose this one).
  21. I think Corey has the lowest baseball IQ of any player in baseball.
