  1. Huh? Please don't tell me you think Jessica Simpson is hotter.
  2. post plz. Probably not appropriate for NSBB.
  3. How many FAs at any position are worth half of what they end up getting? FA is a bad investment. Thats why it is pivotal to develop players within your system. The last step of development is the majors. Players need to play to get better in the majors. This is why Pie should be playing. this is completely untrue. In most cases Free Agents are signed at the end or past prime. They will in most cases get paid more than they were getting paid for declining production. Young players coming up get paid less while there production is improving. I know there is individual cases where players are still improving after free agency, but there are cases where it was better to not where a seat belt in a car accident. I would contend that the percentages tend to show free agency as a bad tool to build a winning ballclub(unless you are willing to spend like the Yankees). As for the part of young players need time to develop in the Majors, I dont know what to tell you. For every Pujols and Braun there are 20 DLees and ARams. Most players dont have ROY numbers right off the bat. They need to play to get better. once again, this isn't true No, it's true. The thing that isn't true however is the insinuation that you shouldn't sign any free agent. You have to, there's really no way around it. You have to overpay for some of your production, because it's simply impossible to get it all, and get enough, strictly from the cheap youth. There's no room for error doing it that way. no it isnt true. Great arguments.
  4. Doing a google image search brings up some very nice Jessica Alba images.
  5. Did you see Steve Trachsel's performance? We also have about 10 guys down in the pen. Not the whole thing, I've had the game on but have been doing other things too. I guess his performance wasn't as good as the box score indicated (not that it was great)? 10 base runners, he's lucky that the 2 HRs he gave up were solo shots. I see the three walks, but of the 7 hits were they hit pretty hard? Floyd with another HR! He picked a great time to get hot!
  6. How do you mean? There is nothing overrated about her appearance.

  8. What an assenine comment. If you've read this thread you'd know that the whole argument for wanting the cubs to miss the playoffs is because fans would like to be able to point to more than 3 out of the last 40 seasons as seasons we had a chance. The word you're looking for is asinine. What's "assenine" is your logic. People don't want the Cubs to make the playoffs because we've been lousy in the past? That's just flat out stupid. No real fan would ever want the team they supposedly support to not make the playoffs. Are you completely ignoring the rest of the thread or did you just not read it? It's been awhile since I've read the whole thread. I was responding to nilo's comment; where was I off in that? Did you have anything to contribute, or were you just curious as to what percentage of the thread I've read?
  9. I don't like going to the pen this early with four games in the next three days. Bad decision by Lou, in my opinion.

  11. Damnit. Whoa, what a butch that was that caught that ball!
  12. Other than the normal slight delay, it's working fine for me. Damnit, Trachsel. Throw strikes.
  13. Looks like the article is gone now.http://www.miamiherald.com/591/story/235835.html
  14. Very nice first inning for Trachsel.
  15. You and me both. Every big game for Romo will pretty much mean a victory for my fantasy team that week.
  16. Lineup will change because Lee is a scratch. He fouled a ball off his knee and can't run. Ward will play first. No batting order yet. Did this happen during BP today? I think Lee could use a day off, so I'm not too freaked out about this. Hopefully its just a day though and he's rested and ready to go this weekend.
  17. Hopefully we can have an NFL discussion here each week. With that said, here are the matchups... Houston at Carolina -- 12:00 Cincinnati at Cleveland -- 12:00 Atlanta at Jacksonville -- 12:00 Green Bay at New York Giants -- 12:00 Buffalo at Pittsburgh -- 12:00 San Francisco at St. Louis -- 12:00 New Orleans at Tampa Bay -- 12:00 Indianapolis at Tennessee -- 12:00 Seattle at Arizona -- 3:05 Minnesota at Detroit -- 3:05 Dallas at Miami -- 3:05 New York Jets at Baltimore -- 3:15 Kansas City at Chicago -- 3:15 Oakland at Denver -- 3:15 San Diego at New England -- 7:15 Washington at Philadelphia -- 7:30 Monday night That Sunday night game looks to be a really good matchup. Pretty weak Monday nighter, especially for week two. Hopefully the Rams can get on track. It would be tough to overcome two losses at home to start the season.
  18. Wow, what an ending! Great game by Rich Hill, and awesome job by Dempster to get out of it and preserve the win. Lou was pumped up after the game. First place!
  19. Wow, what a feeble looking swing that was.
  20. Damn, Benito Santiago style. What a gun.
  21. Nice job by Hill to get out of that mess.
