  1. What about situations where errors are committed but they lead to earned runs? For example, man on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Error by the left fielder allows the man on 3rd to score and the man on 2nd to go to 3rd base. Next batter doubles to score the man on 3rd. Hence, the two runs are earned runs. Does that count in your stat? I guess that would too but since unearned runs are suppose to be the fielders fault I'd like to see that one first.
  2. Wow that and Baker getting an extention would make it just perfect.
  3. I think it's a Dusty strategy. Give him X amount of games to prove himself and then he won't see the light of day after that. If Baker lets Cedeno start at 2nd for the rest of the year I'll be shocked and apoligize to the Baker man in person. I do think that having Cedeno at second is a waste and that it makes 3 bad bats in the lineup....maybe I should say 3 very limited bats in the lineup.
  4. coincidence  He did it just to prove me wrong!!!!! What's worse....Free Willey 3....Jaws 3 or Cubs 2006?
  5. I remember when Syracuse used to be a team that was mentioned in preseason football polls. How can a team that can have the #1 recruiting class in 2007 in basketball stink so much when it comes to recruiting in football?
  6. I know who Jones throws like now....the Syracuse University starting QB Patterson! He throws at recievers feet from as far as 10 feet away. One decent throw and then 3 throws 20 feet into the dirt. Wow...as I write this Jones makes a good throw!
  7. It always amazes me that guys with 96 MPH fastballs can get crushed in MLB. Their bats are just so quick it's astonishing.
  8. This is why Baker is paid the big bucks. You take out a hot hitter and leave in a 4-3 in CF. We all know that Pierre can pop one out to tie the game at any time unlike Murton who couldn't hit one out to save his life. As long as Pierre is batting leadoff, it will never make sense to double switch him unless there have been multiple double switches before-you can debate the double switch in general, but Baker really wouldn't have been very smart if he had done a double switch and taken Pierre out in that spot. The timing was bad but you're right...as long as Pierre is batting leadoff which is one of the problems to begin with. Baker makes such a crud lineup that he's trying to plug a huge leak with a pin.
  9. One....who are the top 10 players that when they make errors their team gives up the most unearned runs. To make sure I said it right, if Barrett has a 2 out passed ball and the runner gets on first and then Z gives up a 2 run shot that's 2 runs against Barrett. Are there stats for this? #2....what teams face the least amount of pitches per game. I'm sure that one is out there.

They probably won the games he didn't make his autopilot double switch move.
  11. I'd appreciate it if you didnt swear at me like that...... Has anyone heard if he really likes Chicago? I just have this wierd feeling he's gone. Sorry about the cussing. I think he likes Chicago. He probably liked it more when Alou & Sosa were here and when people weren't griping about him as much in the papers and on the radio. Rozner rips him a new one every time I hear him. But I'm sure he's hearing that he can make scads of money in free agency. And I'm sure that other cities might be attractive as well. I don't see how Hendry can possibly replace what would be lost if Aramis walks, given all the other holes. But that's part of the problem ... even with Aramis, I don't have much faith in the Cubs putting together a winning team next year, even in a bad NL. So why should Aramis hang around hoping that the organization can get its act together? He's in his prime and he won't get a better chance to make big bucks like this again now that steroids are illegal so ya, I see him leaving and getting a chance to win.

  13. Back up the truck, boys! Make that trucks. I really hope that the fans don't jump on the "Aram is lazy" bandwagon and help drive him away.

  15. The problem with that is it would likely involve inserting Henry Blanco into the lineup. Holy crap that was a shot. Yeah, unless we went out and got a decent receiver who could hit a little bit. I wouldn't mind having Miller back. Or hell, even giving Soto a shot. Dusty would have a stroke if he had to do that. All the more reason to do it. I refuse to acknowledge that the franchise could be dumb enough to bring Dusty back. It is the Cubs after all. 100 years of failure can't be done just by accident. 97 years. 1906-08 were pretty good. Then it all went to hell. I guess I was counting to 2009 and you're right 1906-08 were the salad years indeed.

I'm alll for Barrett as a DH, alas until the NL converts I'd rather have him behind the plate until Soto can hit like he can... If Ramirez leaves for free agency Barrett may end up at third.

  19. But that happens. You have to be a teammate and pick them up when they make a mistake and try not to let it be a bigger one.
  20. That Baker sure does make some shrewed moves. Taking Z out now takes a lot of guts. He just earned an extention from today alone.
  21. It takes awhile to figure out that darn new technology. Z is laboring away. Let's just wait and see if he can blow something out first and then make a decision.
  22. Can't....it's only the 5th inning and in Bakers book of ignorance that just can't be done. Gotta get the dude into the 7th inning. I think Z will pitch this inning and then Baker will pull him for a PH starting off the 6th. A quick 5th will keep him in.
  23. Gotta push for the 500 mark. Screw the big picture and ride the horses into the ground while blaming bad luck. This just frosts me off everytime I watch and I just can't enjoy the game (watching Cubs that is) anymore because of the complete and utter ignorance towards anything that resembles common sense. I try to just root for them but it is just so hard when so many things that can be fixed continue to be done so wrong.
