  1. I was thinking around 17 for 7 and this would be a nice deal for both sides. If this is done Z would be 30 when the contract is over, correct?
  2. dream on... don't care what he or his parents are saying, he's going to the nba. I know, but 1% of hope is more than I had yesterday. "So your telling me there's a chance". That's what we hoped for when Melo was here. He almost did stay too and he cried when he said he was leaving to go pro.
  3. dream on... don't care what he or his parents are saying, he's going to the nba. Normally I'm all for guys staying all four years in college. I usually don't like when they go pro early, but for guys like Oden and Durant, they need to go as soon as they are allowed. He has a shot to be the #1 pick, or at worst, the #2 pick. If he stays in college, he could only jeopardize that ala Matt Leinart. Plus, if he gets hurt next year playing college ball, he's out of luck. If he gets hurt playing NBA ball, he'll have his millions to fall back on. The reason most people go to college is to get a good job. Some guys find a way to do that without graduating by going pro in their sports. I wonder which one the Celtics will get? The NBA usually has the major market teams get the premi #1 pick unless they happen to be from Ohio. Well, that's a conspiracy theory that doesn't seem to make sense-how about Milwaukee or Toronto? They both had number 1 picks lately along with Cleveland as you mentioned. I have a feeling Boston is going to get the 3rd or 4th pick and miss out on Oden or Durant-statistically, they have the best chance at the #1, and so this will not likely happen, but I just have a feeling this is going to be the case. Was either guy a premi 1 pick though? Oden and Durant are and the Celtics will get a top 2 pick if both these guys are available. Ok-Houston's a pretty big city, but would you call them a huge market? They had a premier player come out to them. Major draw...it depends. This has to be correctly and not everytime or it's too obvious. Honestly, if those 2 guys are outin the draft the Celtics are getting a top 2 pick. I will be shocked if they don't unless there is a stud at 3 that we don't know about.

NBA should set it up so that the Celtics and Sixers get Oden and Durant, and Memphis gets screwed and falls out of the top 3. Sorry but your Sixers will be the sacrificial lamb so the Celtics can get that pick.

How close is LSU to Florida again, I forgot?

  8. I think it will be one of the big 3 college kids if they remain at the top of the pack. I'd guess LHP David Price (Vanderbilt), C Matt Wieters (Georgia Tech), RHP Andrew Brackman (North Carolina State), RHP Matt Harvey (HS), LHP Joe Savery (Rice). Is Wieters anywhere as good as Maurer?
  9. Was it opening day that Neifi did that wierd little ball in the glove thing to end the game? Not to be confused with that really cool bunt he did to end one of the games. That may have been the Wrigley opener. It was a pop up behind first and he ran it down and put some serious mustard on the hot dog, that much I know for sure. Yeah, that was probably it now that you mention it.
  10. Will Carroll's system probably has rated Z as a high injury risk for the past three years. This is true. It's too bad the Cubs couldn't have attempted to lighten up Carlos' usage to get him off that list last year. I suppose the same could be said about 2005 when Dusty did everything in his power to try to salvage a .500 season. Yeah Dusty's pride help screw up what could have been a decent run.
  11. Looking for a new bridge to live under, Cuse? Always. Once you live under a bridge you never go back. Well, of course you don't go back. You called for a one way bridge. Out of here like a Marquis hanging curve!

  14. AGREED! I would not want it by the lake though. Summer is summer, but in April and May I could use a few extra degrees. I always thought a ballpark off I-90 right before the O'Hare turnoff. Then you are right on the Jefferson Park-O'Hare Train, near the tollway as well. And you would actually have room for parking. Make it happen Trib! Baseball stadiums should not be built near highways. We don't need to replicate crap places like Philly, Miami and Shea with nothing around the stadium. Any new stadium has to be located within walking distance of multiple postgame options. I think they should be built on a small island with a one way bridge attached to it.
  15. You don't miss things like "It's the presses fault that he's not here early and I remember when Aaron once told me......"
  16. Me either. I could take it or leave it.
  17. It would be even nicer if Harvey did something significant to deserve a top 10 rating. Once again, Harvey has a tool you can't teach. Once again, Davy Gregg has a tool you can't teach. I feel so inadequate as a man now! I wonder if Harvey fails to make it as an OF if the Cubs would ever convert him to a pitcher?
  18. Interesting, who would you take as the top pick?
  19. Tribute to Bozo perhaps?
  20. I'd rather have a below average RF than I would a below average SS and possible 2B.
  21. That comment reminds me of the cubs.com days (before it went downhill) when Ernie59 and ZipDog kept going back and forth about age. I miss those guys. I wonder if ernie went to the convention and saw his buddy Grace there?
  22. Newbie! I've been watching since 1969. :D Old fart. I was 5 in 1969. And I'm quite thankful I never endured the 1969 season. Just reading about it is unbelievable. 69 was glorious until August. God I still hate the Mets and living in NY just rubbed it my face just that much more.
  23. Well actually Lilly/Marquis or Z/Marshall or Guzman. If Hendry does trade Z I hope it's for the haul of all hauls. Oh.....and I voted Z would still be a Cub on Opening Day.
  24. wins like this keep them on the bubble, regardless of what happens in the Big East Tourney. They're playing with confidence at the right time here What hurts them is that they already have 11 losses thanks to inconsistency, and they have a few big games coming up against good teams. (@ Notre Dame, and 2 games that can be won against South Florida. They also have Cincinnati, which has only 1 win the Big East) If they manage to win out, which would not be easy, they'd be 19-11 going into the Big East Tourney with key wins over Kansas, ND twice, and Marquette. Not looking good, but they almost need to win out, or do some damage in the Big East tourney. They need to do both, or I guess if they lose to ND, make it to the finals of the BE tourney. One of those regular season wins is agasint a non D-1 school, so they'd only be 18-11. Yeah, they probably do need to do both, there are too many bubble teams ahead of them. They have gotten hot at the right time though. If they can win the majority of their last few games (basically meaning pretty much all of them), they'd have a shot. Their strength of schedule is 11th in the country, and their RPI is one behind Notre Dame (#'s 55 and 56. Not great, but within striking distance of top 50). The committee also looks at your last ten games, in which case DePaul might stand a chance since they just started winning. They might need one more marquee win to even be considered though (Kansas was kind of early in the season, and ND has fallen to pretty much a very good bubble team), so depending on who they draw in the Big East tourney, they might have their shot to get it. It's about time they started to play some ball! I love it! Great game last night! Keep it going!!!! If you guys ever get a chance to go to the BE tournament...go. It's a blast and there is no other conference tournament like it. The Big East is heck right now and 20 wins still won't get you in the NCAA's but finishing over 500 in conference and 1 win in the BE tournament will.
  25. 2 former Big East teams at the top of the ACC....Ha ha! :D
