  1. Greinke is pitching tonight aganist Baltimore.
  2. He's up to 30 now.....
  3. Not sure if it has been discussed, but if it has, my apologies. He's currently at 23 straight games with a hit.
  4. That pitch Grenike threw in the 8th to strike out the batter, alot of people went "Ohh....sh....." you know how the ending went. Greinke: G - 6 W - 6 CG - 3 SO - 2 IP - 45 ERA - 0.40 Ks - 54 BB - 8 H - 24 WHIP - 0.71 K/9 - 10.8 K/BB - 6.75 Also from Sportscenter, Zack Greinke is the 3rd pitcher in MLB history to have an ERA under 0.50 after 6 starts, after Fernando Valenzuela and Walter Johnson.
  5. A little modified, but I figured it's appropriate for this thread. Tim, people will come Tim. They'll come to NorthSideBaseBall.com for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up your homepage not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at your homepage as innocent as children, longing for the past. Of course, we won't mind if you look around, you'll say. It's only $50 per person. They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it: for it is money they have and peace they lack. And they'll walk out to the General Baseball thread; view in the Baseball History thread on a perfect afternoon. They'll find they have reserved seats somewhere along one of the thread, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll look at the photos and it'll be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick they'll have to brush them away from their faces. People will come Tim. The one constant through all the years, Tim, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This thread, this game: it's a part of our past, Tim. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Tim. People will most definitely come.
  6. Oh, and this thread rocks. I am going to use some of your wonderful fantastic pictures OMC, if you don't mind.
  7. But what's really funny is that his BA and OBP increased, despite his HR being on decline, even though his AB's were somewhat cut short. I would have wondered how many HR's he could had hit in the 32' season, if you notice his AB's was cut almost in half, comparing to the 29' and 30' season.
  8. I'll say it's just ridiculous for a guy to have that kind of stuff and that kind of feel for pitching. Unfair. VERY rare that you seen a guy who has a great slider AND a great curveball. His ability to throw both as strikeout pitches, while varying the speeds on each, is just sick. And when you combine that with a 96-mph four-seam fastball that has great movement and a low 90s two-seamer with even better movement... well, that's a Hall of Fame type arsenal, IMHO.

  10. If my pitcher can give me a line of 7IP 2R 2ER 2BB 8K, I'd say that's a solid day for him. From what I understood, the ump wasn't very good.
  11. Sick....
  12. Not only would they have traded him, they probably would have traded him for crap. Jermaine Dye netted them Neifi Perez Carlos Beltran scored em John Buck and Mark Teahan Johnny Damon brought Angel Berroa Baird was awesome. You don't have to remind me. Baird was just flat out horrible. Dayton, on the other hand, is an improvement, but I still question some of his moves, like the Horacto Rameriz (spelling?) and bringing in Kyle Farnsworth, while Adum Dunn was still out there in the FA market. I would have perferred Dunn over Farnsworth anyways, since the Royals needed some pop in the middle of the line-up, and at least, giving Guillen some protection. While we're talking about the Royals, I know it's probably only 10 games, but based on their pitching, they are pretty solid all around thus far. I mean, is it a coincidence that: 1) Chicago White Sox. In three games with Meche, Greinke, and Davies, the White Sox never had a chance. Other than a fluke Thome home run, their offense never had a chance. The weather had nothing to do with it. Once the Royals left town, the Sox's offense has returned to last year's form. 2) Cleveland Indians Greinke, Davies, and even Ponson shut down their offense. Once they left KC, their bats have exploded in NY. 3) Texas Rangers Their offense has been incredible at home including a 19 run output their last game. Against Gil Meche and Greinke? Zero. Davis was inconsistent, but they were still in the game. And now they blanked Cleveland.
  13. You know, I wonder if the layout of the new stadium is part of the reason why the scores are typically higher. Just seems like the balls that are being hit out, would be a routine pop-fly. Wonder if there's a jet-stream factor or something out there in a already short RF fence.....
  14. The Royals did something right for a change, other than locking up Soria, was to give Greinke the extension. The old Royals would had traded him by now. Greinke's got filthy stuff.
  15. You have to realize that Wrigley is not the norm with it's location. We're very lucky. Most modern ballparks are built to reflect that we are a car centered nation and are surrounded by parking lots. Kaufmann is in the middle of a huge parking lot and there's nothing to do pre/post game when it comes to bars. That being said people in Kansas City really know how to tailgate. While not as big as football: Royals games on Friday to Sunday will have some pretty good tailgating going on. And if you ever can, get to Arrowhead for a Chiefs game. Their pre-game tailgating is epic. But I will warn you that Chiefs fans will be downright nasty to people wearing visiting colors: even if it's different than the visiting team. I wore a Bears ballcap to a Chiefs/Buffalo Bills game and was challenged to two fights along with being bumped into and yelled at. Whoever those bums were that were challenging you to fight were losers. Like every teams, there are great fans, and unfortunately, there are some terrible ones. As a Chief fan, I apologize (not for those bums, but as a fan) about that incident. But then again, be glad that you're just a Bears fan. Broncos and Raider fans tend to get the worst of it.
  16. When you do, give me a holler. I'm usually going to their games more often than not.
  17. IIRC, didn't Soriano struggled in the playoffs because pitchers were throwing sliders nearly all the time last year?
  18. I remember this one, as this occured in 2004. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v39/SwedeCarlson/Funnies/Smack/Score.jpg
  19. Seriously, if I was a manager for another team, and the situation is either a tied game or a one run difference in the 9th or extras, and Aramis is batting, I'd just IBB him.
  20. Too bad the Cubs couldn't get Greinke. Kid is flat out filthy and impressive. Yet, at the same time, I'm glad he's staying in KC.
  21. Seriously, I was painting the house, was listening to the game, and when my wife said that some guy named Aramis was up in the batters box, I told her that the ball game will be over within a minute. Sure enough, it was over.
  22. Both of them looks great. I bet you got quite a collection of others as well, eh?
  23. I'd be suprised if they do make it to the playoffs this year. I am expecting however, that this Royals team should finish at or above .500 this season. Anything else is a bonus. They remind me of the Rays of a few years ago. Enough talent they are close to contending, but have yet to get all the pieces in place. Maybe in another year or so they'll get there. If the Royals GM would stop making dumb moves, such as signing Ponson for example....
  24. I wonder how good the ratings would have been if it was televised on WGN, nationally, instead of regionally.
