  1. I can see why it would be a distraction for his early performance. Hard to concentrate on pitching while there is a major event going on during your personal/family life. One way or another, I'm glad Ryan Dempster is a Cub, and I wish nothing but the best for him and his family.
  2. Good to hear. I just really want him to avoid going to the DL from here on out......
  3. I do agree it makes sense in certain aspects, but what those Cubs fans who can't get the prosposed Cubs channel? Would that mean we're SOL every yr? If it wasn't for Cubs games, Scrubs reruns and Corner Gas, I have no use for WGN. Take the Cubs off WGN and I prolly won't watch WGN all that much. I'd take 50 Cub games a yr on WGN over none on a new network. I'll take 162 Cubs games on WGN over any silly reruns that are just outdated.
  4. I'm just glad he's no longer the manager of the Cubs.
  5. I wonder if the other Blanco is still available.....
  6. That's just insane....
  7. One thing or another, something better change, because I am not too pleased about being swept by the Cardinals....
  8. I'm suprised they didn't put this as part of the promo.... Play it off, Keyboard Cat!
  9. Well really, why stop at baseball? It's the same problem in football, IMHO as well. All of the big games are being played in a warm climate. I'd love to see how they match up in a near blizzard conditions.
  10. Damn. That's a shame. I remember he used to pitch for the White Sox awhile back as well, IIRC.
  11. Screw Michael Vick. It's not so much an issue of his "debt" to any one entity, but more an issue of "no one owes him a damn thing, he ruined one of the best opportunities available, in one of the worst ways possible." The fact is, they are role models and extremely public figures, whether they want that or otherwise, and I think it's shameful to entertain his becoming a role model again. You're sending a message that all can be forgotten and redeemed, and that's simply not true. Goodell is a fool to reinstate him to the league. Nevermind the fact that he's "bankrupt" and yet living in a $750K house while on "house arrest" working a construction gig for $10/hr - which is bull(expletive). The NFL is trying desperately hard to run itself into the ground. Let's put Vick back out there, increase the schedule to 48 games, make 20 more "protect Brady" rules, and just for kicks....let's send the Super Bowl overseas. Idiots.
  12. If Kerry Wood were still here and performing like he has been with the Indians I think people would be considering him more part of the problem than part of the solution. Yep. They've both been awful, but Kerry Wood is more overpaid at this point than Gregg is. Valid points. I still wonder if him going to the AL isn't a good idea though. Just throwing something around, that's all.
  13. I wonder if the manager change made an impact on the Brewers team, now that Yost isn't managing them.....
  14. Eh, it should had not come down to that, since IMHO, there was no reason to pull Cliff Lee, since he was just practically owning the Royals. But for some reasons, unknown to me, Eric Wedge decides to pull him and put in Kerry. IMHO, Lee should had finished out the game. I know he's at 101 pitches, but it's not that bad. In all though, sucks for Kerry, but great win by the Royals.
  15. Look, Prior or no Prior, I'm just glad that it's not the Cubs Drama, and it's someone else's for a change.
  16. I remember him doing it a few times in 2007. I was watching him pitch against the Braves and he struck out Andruw Jones (I think) will that sidearm slider thing. My friend and I just looked at each other, like what was that? But it is a really good pitch, if he mixes it in every once in a while. Yeah, I was watching the game, and he struck out a batter with a side arm curve, and I looked at it and said "WTF was that, Rich?"
  17. Get Peavy, Keep Dempster in the pen, and either trade back for Wood, or get Marmol in the closer spot.
  18. Bobby Scales, man. Drew the leadoff walk that resulted the game winner by Soriano. Bobby Scales, man..... Rock on.
  19. Has Rich ever thrown a occasional pitch as a side arm curveball? Most of the time, I remember him throwing overhead curveballs, and they were effective, but that one K that he had was a sidearm throw....
  20. Shouldn't had let Kerry go. Even at that, that's why I think Marmol would have been a better option. *shrug* Oh well, I guess as of this point, they're just gonna have to do what they can do.
  21. Zack, done for the night. 7.0 IP 6 H 1 R 1 ER 2 BB 6 K's It's a good day for him. That 96 mph fastball right in the middle of the plate for a called strike 3 to end the 7th was just pure ownage.
  22. I'm sure he don't mind having a bad outing as long as the team wins, which is, the Royals 6, Baltimore 1, in the bottom of the 5th.
  23. My buddy's there. Says it doesn't look or sound good for tonight's game being played. Well, the tarp was removed at the "K", so that only means one thing. :D
  24. So far, there is no reports of this game being postponed, up to my knowledge. Edit: The have officially removed the tarp at the "K" at 9:00 CST. Looks like they will play.
