he threw 120 pitches 4 days ago; that decision was pretty much made when they let him go deep into the ballgame. this has to be one of the fatter pitching matchups in recent memory. It was stupid on Wednesday when they let him go out there for the ninth inning up 6-1 and throw an extra 18 pitches. They probably could have taken him out after the seventh up 4-0 and saved an extra 12 pitches also, but sending him out for the ninth was completely unnecessary. And Sabathia threw 113 pitches that same game - only nine fewer than Lee did - but he's coming back for tonight's game. If they were up 2-1, then I could understand it. But if you lose this one, you're nearly done, especially since you'd have to go to New York and win twice, if you could beat Burnett in Game 5. Historically though, pitchers on a 3 day rest doesn't necessarly mean much. IIRC, it was like 5-5 something and with a ERA of 5.00 or higher.
