It's not terrible stupid. The basic point is that teams aren't throwing the Cubs a lot of strikes... mostly because the Cubs have swung at a lot of bad pitches in recent years... that's why the Cubs aren't hitting for power, there aren't enough pitches for them to drive. The Cubs are being selective, which is good, but what the article fails to explicitly say... is that opposing pitchers are getting a LOT of close pitches that should be balls, that are called strikes... because the Cubs don't get any respect from the umps for said patience. So in other words, the Cubs are screwed.
