  1. I don't mind if they throw one at Rizzo's hip tonight, but I do mind if they don't immediately toss the pitcher and instead warn BOTH teams.
  2. I didn't want to start a new thread, because I figured there had to be one, but this is not just about bad umps, it's about a general trend of terrible umpiring that is getting worse all the time. It is more and more obvious that strike zones are inconsistent and seem to favor some teams over others, or pitchers, or whatever. It's impossible to know what a strike is! Add to that other bad calls... obvious calls that have to be overturned by replay... and then calls that get overturned on the field only to have "inconclusive" reviews result in overturns of the original call because it's inconclusive? What is going on here? The technology exists to remove the human element form baseball umpiring entirely. Even if you don't want to do the strike zone (arguably the most important thing, but whatever), it is ridiculous that a ball cannot be called conclusively fair or foul without any human element involved. This is a fact of physics, and in fact easily determined as long as you have cameras AT THE RIGHT ANGLES. Something that has always been lacking for NO REASON since video cameras have existed... I don't understand it.
  3. Was Rizzo's foul ball really foul, or did they get it wrong?
  4. they could also be 5 or 6 up by July 4th... although that is hard to imagine
  5. oh well, so they've forgotten how to play baseball well, they'll figure it out again someday.
  6. Honestly, I don't know why the umps are still there, you could tell he was safe in real time... lets just fix it so we don't deal with this crap any more.
  7. Whoever is looking at stats (I hate stats, and I know about these things), and advising Maddon... who apparently can't help but listen to these people... should be fired... immediately. This team needs to focus on fundamentals. They need to be able to get hits to the opposite field. They need to be able to get hits when they don't see the pitch they are looking for. It seems that everything this team is built to do is hit their pitch for a homerun. That's nonsense. This team has the talent to approach any pitcher they face and get hits.... not home runs, not doubles... but hits. Put the ball in play and get on base... or a walk. Umpires are dumb. One of this teams' problems is that they see the strike zone so well, the umpires are like... "I'm better than you, you must strike out!" The only combat to this is hits. I don't have much hope for this team at t he moment, because I think the umpires are dead set on making sure they never ever get replaced by robots...and ensuring the best team with plate discipline never succeeds is helpful to that goal. That being said, the strike zone should not matter, as our hitters need to adjust to it no matter what... this is a total failure of our coaches. I don't want to suggest that they all be fired... but yes, fire them all.
  8. This guy is pitching really well, but does he really deserve to get every close call on every side of the plate? I may have to stop watching baseball on tv until we get robot umps... at least over the radio I don't get as frustrated.
  9. It would seem so. He's trying to be too smart.
  10. So, I'm living in California, but my fiance is in the Chicago area... if I move into the Chicago suburbs, will my online streaming capabilities be ruined?
  11. oh hey, first place, lets stay that way for a while.
  12. This game made me not like baseball. I don't care that we won, the umpires were so bad it's insane
  13. Kale is not actually food, it is what people who hate themselves force into their mouths as punishment for wanting real food.
  14. We don't need him with a 4 run game... we've proven we might need him the next 3 or four days... but after tonight, he can't be available for all of those nights. he only pitched once on the road trip and the odds of the cubs needing him for the next 3 days (and having his replacement blow it on the first day he can't pitch) are very slim You're not wrong, but if he's gonna be unavailable when we need him, I don't want him pitching when we don't... these are things that don't make sense.
  15. Where doesn't this make sense? We don't need him with a 4 run game... we've proven we might need him the next 3 or four days... but after tonight, he can't be available for all of those nights.
  16. So, it was what... 10 days ago that Davis couldn't come in in a save situation because he had been used too often that week... and Rondon blew a game we should have won...? Now Davis is in in a game with a 4 run lead? I don't like when things don't make sense.
  17. well, this is a stupid game, I blame the umpires
