    as much as i hate mgmt for what not putting together a better team, this makes it all melt, melt, melt. zambrano is going to have the greatest season of any pitcher ever! lol.

    back to the original subject, what would be so bad about just letting kerry rest for another month and a half, rehab and come back after the asb? i mean, he's going to get hurt at some time in a full year, maybe in half a year, fully healthy down the stretch... yeah. rip me apart. it's just hard to imagine him being at full health ever.

    Why? Our pitching is MUCH Better, and. . Pierre is Loften (maybe better) of 03 Walk is Walk DLee is Sammy of 03 Ramirez is Alou of 03 Murton is Ramirez of 03 and Barret is Dlee of 03 Our offense isn't really much "worse" as a pesimist might put it, DLee and Ramirez of 03 were not yet the DLee and Ramirez they are today. And we have a couple youngesters which are going to do very good this year, as well aside from Prior and Wood having carreer years, we really didn't have much else in the pitching. Look, you can be a bitter Cubs fan if you want to. But don't bring it my way!! Wohooo!! Go CUBS!! murton will be good, but probably not ram 03 good. also cedeno 06 > gonzalez 03.

    You know, I am old enough to remember "the Bowa trade." And while it is a great story that a HOFer was a throw-in, it is simply not true. DeJesus was the prize the Phillies wanted. We took their old SS to fill the position, but the prospect was the key to the trade. I believe we asked for Julio Franco and settled for Sandberg. i thought i heard at the time of the deal somewhere that hendry wouldn't have pulled the trigger without murton being involved, and that he was the only reason boston fans didn't like the deal initially. funny how we have to take from others' farm systems to produce a good, patient at the plate position player. i guess no so much funny as sad :(

    1. Cards 2. Brewers 3. Cubs 4. Astros 5. Pirates 6. Reds this is guaranteed, and also will be the shift that shows the new look of the division over the next five years or so... the cubs and astros will continue to decline while the brewers come close but not close enough to competing with st louis. the reds will suck for a while, and the pirates can become better than houston, but what does that mean, really? the good thing though, is baker will be fired by the end of august, if not earlier. bad news is bruce kim will be named interim manager again. :shock:

    it would be nice to see an offensive addition that might mean something every once in a while too. how long before simontacchi pitches again?

    yeah, imo it's not fair to judge barrett while catching maddux. i don't care who is behind the plate, people are going to run successfully. blanco caught prior most of the time, correct?

    It should be noted that I think Barrett exclusively caught Maddux last year, perhaps even 2004, although I'm not sure about that. Also, this wasn't really to get down on Barrett, he did win the Silver Slugger award... iirc, barrett only started catching maddux in 05. is there anyway to find out how he(barrett) fairs otherwise?

    maddux is also our 4th starter, not our supposed #1 or 2. he went 5 and gave up 3 ER today, correct?
