  1. Feel free to add Dusty's usage of Zambrano, today, April 9. 4 run lead, over 100 pitches thrown and he sends him back out for another inning. During the inning, Z was visited by the trainer's twice, gave up a walk (on a 90 mph fastball) and was FINALLY taken out. Maybe Z's problem will be nothing, but this didn't seem to make a lot of sense.
  2. Let me preface this by saying that I am all for doing whatever it takes to send the Gremlin back to the pet shop. If we bring up Grieve, who can play third in the event that something happens to ARam? Can Neifi or Hairston play 3rd? I know Hairston took some ground balls there in ST, but is that enough? Damn you Hendry for putting us in this position with your Macias infatuation.
  3. I wouldn't have considered Zambrano or Rusch in that situation, and I think some people have brought them up are just making a point. I agree with your assessment of why some pitchers get hits. However, that was not the case in last night's game. As for Dusty's experience, I agree he has a ton, but he has shown time and time again that he has either learned very little from it, or he completely disregards it. Either one is unacceptable.
  4. Not to nitpick one little part of your well thought-out post, but I disagree with this idea. Just because Dusty was a good baseball player does not make him a good manager. There are countless examples where one does not translate to the other, in all sports (Magic Johnson is one example). Further, I think baseball is one sport where fans can have an understanding of "strategery" that is greater than or equal to the manager. I agree that the only situations that we are not privy to are the day in day out health issues of the players (and that includes things like guys having a bad hangover or the runs or something like that). In Dusty's case, there have been too many instances of glaringly poor managing to constantly hide behind the excuse that he has more information than we do. I would venture to say that there are a few folks around here that could do a better job managing a game than Dusty.
  5. But if Dubois or Hairston starts in LF who hits the 3 run homer? That question is a little short-sighted. I posted that opinion because this is harldly the last of this pinch-hitting pattern when the starter and then the reliever are right-handed. I grant you the Holly homer tonight, but I am more concerned about the long term effects of this philosophy.
  6. I agree with this This thread will be great for the Dusty lovers out there. I don't know if they can stand the pages and pages of hard evidence that Dusty is garbage. Man, their heads might explode, dude.
  7. Copied from the Macias thread... This is all the more reason why Dubois should start and Holly should come off the bench. The opposition will keep coming with RH relievers and Dusty will keep trotting Macias and Perez out there because they are switch hitters, leaving the two good hitters on the bench. If JD was starting, we would have seen Holly instead of Macias or Perez. But like Illini said in the Gamethread, Man its tough dude when the breaks don't go your way dude and man Neifi is a great pinch hitter dude...or something like that. For tonight, consider Dusty busted. Worst in-game manager/strategist in baseball.
  8. i beat you in the first transaction contest (because i won the whole thing) Sure, if by "won" you mean "finished second." Congrats, SC! I didn't want to do too much gloating so thanks for sticking up for me. ;) I am shocked and honored. There are so many people I have to thank. I'd like to thank Tim for founding such a wonderful place and for providing an arena for me to display my transactional brilliance. I'd also like to thank the Mods, for putting up with the nuts in the nuthouse. Lastly, I'd like to thank my publicist, who is a beautiful human being.
  9. http://www.newbergreport.com is a great place to follow the Rangers and their minor leaguers. I am in search of a good KC Royals site. If anyone could share that with me I would like to be able to keep up with their minor leagues this season. Thanks.
  10. Bitterness? Jealousy? All of the above? ;) As Bobby Bacala would say...."To the victors, belongs da spoils"
  11. This chart, and the fact that my law school exams are over tomorrow are my only two reasons to live. ;)
  12. Gary, I do the same as you on cubs.com. However, I do not mind revealing that I am skipLXA on the cubs.com board.
