  1. But Lou said he was gonna play guys who get results. :-))
  2. Carlino being able to graduate early has been a big plus since the Bruins are so weak in the backcourt. Just curious, what is Peegs? Oh, sorry I spoke to you as if you were an Illinois fan. Peegs is the main IU message board, ran by Mike Pegram ("peegs") out of Columbus, IN (it's now a rivals.com site though). I believe you can certainly consider this information accurate. Read the same thing on the scout.com IU board, that Carlino will graduate early and play this fall for UCLA.
  3. No, same state and class as Carlino (well, same state Carlino is currently in at least). Oh I guess I missed that part of your post. Carlino was 2011 right? Who are the other in state guards that year? Hmmmm. Jeremiah Davis?
  4. I feel a bit indifferent right now but as soon as they string a couple wins together I'm sure I'll get more excited. The last couple years my expectations were higher.......this season I really don't know what to expect.
  5. Brandon Young perhaps? There has been some talk about him considering IU now since DePaul fired their coaching staff. Oladipo is friends with him and has said as much. But I don't know how big of news that would really be. He is a 3 star PG last I checked.
  6. Exile if you have some possible good news and don't want to post it, at least PM me with it so I can feel special. Plus I need a happy thought, I'm about ready to go sulley here. :stickman:
  7. This thread was so much more entertaining than the Cubs game. I went back and read the whole thing. Nice work. :hello:
  8. Wow, what a game. Our tickets were not as bad as I anticipated. The view was pretty decent for being in one of the very top sections. While the crowd was obviously pro-Butler for the most part Duke did have a fairly good number of fans there. Definitely worth the price of the tickets. Man I still can't get over Hayward's last heave........ugh. What could have been.
  9. 2006 and 2010 now for me.
  10. I think Butler will make a game of it. They are a good team not just some Cinderella fluke team getting lucky. I'll be sitting in the nosebleed seats at the game tomorrow and I am excited about it. The atmosphere should be really special especially if Butler comes out of the gates strong.
  11. Yeah, I'm not buying this one at all. He's pretty much in a perfect situation for himself. I think he'll play a little more PG next year anyway. You would think it is a perfect situation for him but if the kid has an inflated opinion of his PG skills and his dad is helping fuel that belief then I could easily see it being true. He is a cocky kid anyways and his attitude on the court last season was kind of obnoxious at times and by that I am referring to his little scream fits at teammates. I won't be surprised if it is true.
  12. In the latest edition of "as the IU transfer rumors turn" it appears Verdell Jones is the current flavor of the week. There is talk that his father thinks he should be a full-time PG and that is allegedly driving the rumors. Father knows best amirite? :-)) Quite frankly if Verdell is the only significant player who transfers I'll be pretty happy. He has natural scoring ability but his defense and turnovers reduce his value quite a bit.
  13. Yes. Phil Wrigley had the idea of marketing the ballpark experience over the actual quality of the team itself. I read a book called Wrigleyville that detailed that pretty well.
  14. Well I guess the price of tickets next week just went up quite a bit but I'll be there. :good:
  15. I thought the Zeller family was notorious for not tipping their hand so I don't really believe anyone who claims to know which way he is leaning at this point. Not that I would be shocked if he chose Butler, I mean it could certainly happen. The lines of thought regarding Carlino that I've been reading are he misses being out west and there is also speculation that he is not happy with Crean continuing to recruit PG as if that is an indication he wouldn't be playing the point at IU and Matt apparently fancies himself a bonafide 1. It really doesn't look good any way you cut it though unless Crean lands a really big time recruit with that scholarship.
  16. 2011 guard Matt Carlino has re-opened his commitment. http://www.insidethehall.com/2010/03/25/matt-carlino-opens-up-his-recruitment/ So yeah I have no idea what the hell is going on now.
  17. Moses Abraham has chosen Georgetown. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/terrapins-insider/2010/03/moses_abraham_commits_to_georg.html
  18. I'd probably be rooting for Rivers to focus on his studies if I were an IU fan. That would be great but I am being realistic. We are stuck with him for one more year. :?
  19. I do like Elston too. Probably should have mentioned him along with Watford.
  20. Pritchard and Bawa? That seems to be the latest version, lol. I heard Pritchard mentioned awhile ago but blew it off, cause it makes no damn sense. Bawa I could see if he had an inflated opinion of his abilities, but he was always going to be a project, and if he was expecting to play much as a freshman, somebody was putting some stuff in his head. Is the assumption that these transfers are all due to on the court issues, or is this more of an Iowa situation where the connection isn't there? My guess would be court issues. Crean has at least 3 different bigs on his recruiting radar for next season and these are mostly recent developments (Abraham for example). Our frontcourt situation is just such a mess outside of Watford so I think he is going for immediate help there. And if we do end up adding say 2 big guys to go with Oladipo and Sheehey then obviously a scholarship(s) has to open up. Allegedly Crean had private meetings with 3 players in the last week which people presume to mean one or more of those kids might be leaving? I don't believe every rumor I hear though. Personally I would make Doc pay Jeremiah's way, lol. It isn't like he can't afford it. That would free up a scholarship. :-)) Pritchard would be better served playing at a MAC school or something IMO. He just seems overmatched in Big Ten play although he has his moments like his first half against Purdue in the first IU-PU game this season.
  21. Pritchard and Bawa? That seems to be the latest version, lol.
  22. I'm not sure I'd call the 2010 class a disaster. I mean we only had 2 or 3 spots open anyways. What players has he missed on that he should have gotten for 2010? He's been playing from behind on most kids just due to the timing of his taking over the program. 2011 and 2012 kids he is getting a much better chance to get a foothold early in the process so that is where he really needs to strike gold. Sheehey and Oladipo are just 3 star kids but they aren't trash. They have some useful skills to give us better quality depth and they can fill some roles off the bench. And if we can snag Abraham then it looks better too. I mean yeah he is getting overhyped right now but still it sounds to me like he could at least come in next season and contribute some minutes. He doesn't have to be an impact player, heck he just needs to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time. I really do think if we can get a full season of Creek & Roth with no critical injuries (knock on wood) that we can make a bit more progress. Nothing major, maybe .500ish overall?
  23. Izzo has always been right at the top of my list. Even when MSU doesn't seem that impressive they seem to find a way to make it deep in the tourney.
