The bolded is a fascinating concept. Maybe I just don't get it. Perhaps there's some mission statement somewhere that reads, "NSBB: a place for Cub fans to discuss baseball, run smack, and act like [expletive]." Seriously. Perhaps I'm missing the point of this place, and the atmosphere I'm railing against is actually completely by design. It would explain a lot. It is part of the personality of the board. There is no denying it. And I don't think it is for everyone and well quite frankly I am glad that NSBB is not for everyone because like I just said in another post, we aren't trying to recreate cubs.com here. Now I don't think that by simply presenting a contrarian view that somebody is going to get flamed here but the problem I see is most of the people presenting those contrarian views do so with a massive chip on their shoulder and/or fail to do so intelligently. That isn't to say there is some collateral damage sometimes but oh well. No biggie. :good: You can't be easily offended or take everything too serious if you expect to post here and keep your sanity. I've learned the lesson myself. For the most part anyways. :P -

Word. In fact, a lot of that snarkiness drives away people who really had nothing of value to contribute, anyway. From what I recall the entire reason for creating this board was to escape the nonsense at cubs.com because I remember originally posting there with some current and former members of NSBB. And that is how I heard about NSBB to begin with. Most of the people that get run off remind me of bad cubs.com posters anyways so to me it is just this board working as intended. -

Typical 1 seed start slow, close at half, then open 2nd half on 20-0 run and win by 30 like usual A 16 seed is bound to win one day. May as well be today. :D UK losing to Princeton would be so clutch. Probably won't happen though. I know there have been some 3-4 point wins for 1 seeds over 16, but the closest I feel like we've come to seeing a 16 seed win was UConn-Albany back in 2006. I think Albany had a 9 point lead with 7-8 minutes left before UConn went on a big run and won comfortably. I'm pretty sure one year that Purdue was one shot away from losing to a 16 seed as a 1 seed. I think it was Western Carolina or something like that. They had a wide open 3 to win it but missed. Purdue got upset by Tubby Smith's Georgia team the next game. Also Georgetown-Princeton back in the late 80's but that might be before your time lol.

When I first joined this board I was still hung up on basic stats like batting average and I scoffed at all the sabermetric talk here but over time I have learned to repent and cleanse my heathen mind of all the old-timey baseball non-sense. :good: Also I think the snarkiness of this place is part of the charm of it and quite frankly most of the people who get "bullied" usually bring it on themselves. Now excuse me while I go plug myself back into the collective NSBB space brain. :hello: -

I'm hearing it was drug-related. No confirmation on that, just rumors at this point. I have no idea who these guys are but that would be some Milton Bradley/Ron Artest kind of stuff right there. =D> Also it is being reported that Smith will miss Purdue's opening round game with a concussion.

There is no way this is random. The committee must be setting up games with good story lines. I wouldn't be surprised if the networks are pushing this. With the amount of money they pay for the rights it isn't inconceivable that they have some influence. It wouldn't be the first time. Didn't they match up Lefty Driesell versus Maryland a few years back? I think it was like 10 years ago but I remember it.

Colorado had a terrible RPI profile. Complain about the use of RPI, sure, but they weren't even borderline with that profile. I've just never gotten all the rancor people make about the last in versus last out when to me the bigger deal is teams that aren't getting seeding correctly (Florida as a 2 seed for example). Between Colorado, UAB, VCU and VaTech please who really gives a [expletive] outside of those teams fans?
