  1. If Im the remaining teams on the Cubs schedule, I call up a soft tossing lefty in every game to start against the Cubs. Seriously why would you start anything different?
  2. Look at that 'true" leadoff man going up there swinging at the first pitch and popping everything up
  3. Care to elaborate? He's been trading for crap hoping it turns into gold lately. EJ said it dead on with what I meant this kind of garbage gets nobody anywhere. I don't particularly like the trade, but we need honest debate here. Trachsel is not crap. by definition he is average. na..I'd say he is crap And you'd be wrong. When opposing teams are OPS'ing 800 against you, Im not sure there is another word for it.
  4. I dont think anybody here is really that upset with losing Moore or Cherry, we all know they arent going to be anything special. However for a team trying to make the playoffs, our GM has made 3 trades this year, and every single one of them was a "hope to catch lightening in the bottle' type of trade. It sure would be nice if we could get a player under 35 years old, who has been good this year, that you dont have to hope is going to be good, but instead you say, :"hell yea he is going to help out".
  5. And Murton continues to hit. Hes going to be pushing a .900 OPS since his call up real soon, but yet hes relegated to spot starts and pinch hitting. While our regular RF hasnt sniffed a .900 OPS the entire year.
  6. You're kidding, right? Where exactly did Moore or Cherry fit into our future plans? I'm in a wait and see mode on this move. Most people here bashed the Kendall trade as well, and we all know how that's turned out. Maybe we catch lightning in a bottle with Trachsel. He's had a solid August. If not, no biggie. He just sits on the bench. For those who want Gallagher, I'm not sure we want to rely on raw rookies the last few weeks of the season and into the playoffs. I'll take my chances with a guy who's been there. He hasnt had a solid Aug, hes been getting by on luck. !.53 Whip. He walks alot of guys, and doesnt strike people out. As for the "hes been there" phrase, are you serious? Trachsel sucked last year for Mets in the playoffs, just because hes a veteran doesnt mean he will be better than a rookie in the stretch run. Hell look at our rookie Hill, hes had no trouble pitching in the stretch run so far, but hows Z, and Lilly, the 2 veterans been doing?
  7. he was off in the 2st but looked good in the 2nd
  8. Good inning Marshall, nice comeback. Hey offense lets try seeing 10 pitches this inning ok?
  9. Hey who you got in the IL Mizzou game? Am I stupid for thinking U of I has a chance? Yes. Please, you guys aren't anything special. And you guys are a bad football team. I would stop short of saying bad. Illinois is loaded with talent and that will be enough to keep us in most games. "Loaded with talent" and "keep us in games" don't go together. Sure it does, considering the majority of that talent are freshman and sophomores. It's all semantics, but teams that are loaded with talent don't stay in games. They dominate games. Not when that talent is mostly freshman.
  10. Yup hes here to start. Hell Hendry making it sound like we are going to a 6 man rotation basically.lol Hey Bob, get off your knees please.
  11. I quit a long time ago trying to assume and figure out exactly what the hell Hendry is doing. I'm wondering, and hoping like hell, that he's got some other deal up his sleeve. It'd be nice, but I seriously doubt that Trachsel would be more enticing bait for another team than Cherry or Moore would be. I think he just let himself get hosed by Baltimore again. Hey to be fair it does look like we hosed them out of Kevin Hart for Fast Freddy. But yea there is no other deal. Hendry is supposed to be in the booth with Len and Bob today so I cant wait to hear the "Hes a veteran" "we really like him" "hes a winner" and "hes been there". Well I think Ive heard most of those already during the interview, and I was also right that we got him based on his August lol.
  12. Warning track power I LOVE IT! Their inning lasts 20 mins ours lasted 4 mins. I love this offense
  13. Dont say that too loud, if Marshall sucks when he comes back out, it wouldnt surprise me if we just traded for a new 5th starter since hes a veteran.
  14. Thanks for swinging, cause I dont know if he couldve thrown another strike after that pitch.
  15. Jesus Marshall, throw a damn strike. It baffles me how our pitchers walk so many batters that come back and hurt us, but yet our offense wont take any walks. Gahhh
  16. Hey who you got in the IL Mizzou game? Am I stupid for thinking U of I has a chance? Yes. Please, you guys aren't anything special. And you guys are a bad football team. Not to derail this thread, but you know this from us playing zero games this year? Sweet do the Cubs go to the playoffs?
  17. Hey who you got in the IL Mizzou game? Am I stupid for thinking U of I has a chance? Yes. Hmm I wonder why you would say this?lol
  18. He hasn't been good, he's been lucky. 2.something ERA in August was done with 18 walks and 8 K. 1.53 WHIP as well, puts his peripherals right in-line with the rest of his crappy season. That is in something like 30 innings, hardly a random sample. and he has been going 6-7 per start... Really, he's not sexy but he has been getting it done of late What part of 1.52 WHIP and only 8 k's in those 30 innings do you consider it getting it done? Goony said hes been getting by on alot of luck, which those numbers prove. The ball gets put into play an awful lot when hes pitching, and he walks quite a few, thats not a good combination.
  19. If that's what he's used for...I'll cope. I still would prefer Gallagher to start vs Stl then Trachsel Gallagher has been hit hard in the majors this year. A 7.82 ERA and a 2.05 WHIP. Now, for a year, I would be furious if they selected Trachsel over Gallagher. Gallagher is going to make adjustments and end up being better than Trachsel. Only 1 start though? I think Trachsel is the better option right now, especially since Trachsel has good numbers against the St. Louis lineup. Now, like I've said before, that still wouldn't be justification for trading for him (they definitely overpaid), but I think Trachsel is an upgrade for that one game. CCP, you are alot better with getting numbers than I am, so Im going to ask you. I think most of that ERA is from the blowout in CO? Other than that I remember 1 hr given up, and then pretty good performances, am I wrong? Gallagher had 7 outings 3.1 IP, 2 ER 0.1 IP, 0 ER 2.0 IP, 4 ER 1.1 IP, 1 ER 4 IP, 1 ER 1.0 IP, 0 ER 0.2 IP, 4 ER Gallagher struggled the whole way through. He had 1 good outing (the 4 IP, 1 ER). The 1.0 IP he gave up a hit and a walk, but that's still a pretty good outing. Gallagher's problems were the walks. He walked 12 in 12 2/3 IP. The only outing he didn't walk anybody in was the 1/3 of an inning one. Considering he was coming in from the bullpen which he had never done, I think that can be attributed for alot of the walks. If I remember correctly Gallagher is known to have good control, and has had good control in the Minors while starting. Also its no guarantee with the way Trach has pitched this year, that he can do better than Gallagher.
