  1. The closer we get to Javi, the more magical the world gets. I just got that last growth spurt I've been due since junior high.
  2. Everyone here is terrible and nobody likes anybody.
  3. 45 days of service time or some number of PAs. This is definitely his rookie year.
  4. There's a pretty good chance Baez goes back to No. 12 next year, so be careful with your shirseys. Unless you are rich and can afford two, in which case PTR thanks you.
  5. For the rest of this game thread, all references to other players should simply be Not Javi That's mostly how he thinks of them anyway.
  6. That's what it says to me, too. Plus the 18 Ks against 1 walk in 57 PAs... So he's Julio Zuleta? No cross-race comps.
  7. I wish he'd stop this. It's putting our AAA prospects' performances into bad company.
  8. If he hits waivers and we don't make a claim, I'll be quite annoyed. If he's traded, I hope we're at least in on it.
  9. I didn't change my mind on the Rangers return. Yeah, I guess "middling" and "really good" could mean the same thing. Damn subjective terms. But I know you're going to use the "all told" qualifier to duck this, so do you. I'm going to use the "understanding context" card. Matt Garza's return was middling in the context of what we should have gotten for him if he had been traded before getting hurt and losing a year and a half of control. It was really good for what he was worth by the time we got around to trading him.
  10. I didn't change my mind on the Rangers return.
  11. Really? I don't think anyone would care all that much if Castro went on the DL.
  12. Not specifically Stanton, but the thought did cross my mind today. But there's just no way to predict what trades they may make. I'll just worry about that when they happen or at least are heavily rumored.
  13. Oliver thinks everybody is a 4+ win player.
  14. Last option should be "6+"
  15. If we get Soler in the next two weeks, then we're only "counting" on one rookie next year.
  16. Anything under 40 would make me happy, tbh.
  17. All these reports that Baez is being called up is a clear signal that Baez's callup is coming soon.
  18. I'm changing my vote to yes because Javy is coming to fix everything.
  19. http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mdymx9a94e1qjwui0o1_500.gif
  20. Also they'll come over to my house for pizza in the offseason and we'll be friends.
  21. I'd rather do that than a September callup.
  22. It's fine for people to change their opinions. I recommend it. It's just uncanny how those opinions always seem to be changing lately in ways that aim to make Epstein's failures more defensible, and it's dumb to act hysterical about how dumb people are for not changing with you. It was a really good return for what Garza turned into by 2013, but it was a very meh return compared to what he could have gotten a year and a half earlier.
  23. In order of likelihood of posting a 5-win season by 2016: Baez, Alcantara, Bryant, Soler, Russell I'm probably low on Bryant, but I'm not sold on his defense the way I am Baez and Alcantara's, and we already *know* Alcantara doesn't have BrettJackson-itis, which I'm worried about with Bryant and the massive K problems. Alcantara I think is going to be underrated in this regard. He's got a chance to play really plus defense and add some value in baserunning, and leading off would give him a chance to get *tons* of plate appearances. Something like 2013 Ben Zobrist with less OBP and more power.
