  1. He's been much better than I expected.
  2. The short list of teams Hamels cannot be traded to in 2014 anymore: - Everyone but the Cubs. November and December got moved to 2015?
  3. A week ago, nobody who needed Hamels for the playoffs this year could give enough to get Phladelphia to move him. He's not going to be worth more to us now than he was to contenders last week, and I doubt even Amaro would have much swing in his expectations in such a short time peroid.
  4. Then the Cubs have unreasonable expectations about what Hamels should return too Or it's just not a good fit and there probably won't be a deal.
  5. How are Alcantara's contact numbers looking (and where the hell can I find them myself?) 74.7% going into tonight. Fangraphs has them.
  6. He's hit a lot of balls solidly, taken some tough pitches, and hit a GW-homer. I really don't care that he's 1-10.
  7. "Fuji Kujiwama" is pitching for the Cubs, per the Rockies announcer.
  8. Rockies announcers just called him "Fuji Kujiwama"
  9. I compliment them all the darn time. I just don't absolve them of everything bad that happens under their charge.
  10. Not understanding. You think we're about to overpay for pitching, via trade? No, I'm thinking they've found ways to mindcontrol other GMs into doing things they wouldn't normally do, like trade Russell-level prospects or give away 23-year-old league-average starting pitchers.
  11. Between Russell not being untouchable and now Turner for free, I'm beginning to suspect some voodoo is at work as Epstein and Hoyer get desperate.
  12. We had to give up enough to make Florida not release him out of spite.
  13. They kinda do. Brett mentioned that depending on the outcomes of tonight, Cubs could lose a spot in the waiver order. Besides that, they do not. They already made the claim. Why would the lose a spot? That seems silly. If the Cubs won and the Diamondbacks lost, the Cubs would go behind them. But you can only pull a guy back once, so basically all the Marlins could do is spite the Cubs by re-waiving him or releasing him. Complaining about giving up Dunston is like complaining about having to give up a penny for something valuable you thought you were getting for free.
  14. I don't ever want him taking a first-pitch fastball in the zone. forget his babip, what's his contact percentage looking like? It was in the 70s yesterday, which is plenty good enough, but it was all against bad lefties in Coors.
  15. I don't ever want him taking a first-pitch fastball in the zone.
  16. Wow, Baez turned that DP like playing 2b is no big deal.
  17. Eh, quality of contact is mostly noise. #kiddingnotkidding
  18. I'm assuming this is a joke but his ball wasn't technically in play as it was a foulout. Do foul balls not count on BABIP? Pretty sure they do.
  19. Dunston is pretty much the perfect "not worthless but someone we don't really care about if you want to save some face you can have him" guy.
  20. I missed Baez's AB somehow. Stupid looking away for a moment. Stupid BABIP refuses to give him a break.
  21. Im assuming Jackson is gone. This regime has had no problem getting rid of lost causes, even if they have to eat some salary. I think we can give him until next spring. But we're getting close to having five guys they may want to give a chance to more the rest of the year.
