  1. I never stopped pining for him. Not because he's good, but because he'd be entertaining.
  2. They could definitely win this series.
  3. First, root for the Lightning to either crap out spectacularly in the first round or dominate everyone and win it all. No in-between. Then enjoy the tears whenever the Maple Leafs lose. After that, I guess the Jets are not objectionable. Las Vegas had those hilarious pre-game shows last year, but I don't think they can get a similar run going.
  4. Baseball players start declining at 25. The instant anyone has two good seasons, trade them.
  5. on the blackhawks hf forum (i don't know if they're smart, but they're very active), they've pretty much completely written off podkolzin as a blackhawks pick Those guys would know better than me. That place is hardcore.
  6. Now that I'm reading up on it, Podkolzin *can't* come over for 2 years. You can't even negotiate with him, he's full SKA property. And he could always choose to stay there rather than take an NHL ELC after those two years. That'd give me a long pause. You could take Bynam as a potential No. 1 D (albeit it'll take a few years of developing) or there's a lot of interesting C's.
  7. Depends on what's being offered. I don't wanna overstate by saying there's *no* difference between 3 and 8, but there's definitely 2 key guys and 5 or 6 second-tier ones. You're not giving up an irreplaceable opportunity if you trade down.
  8. I'm particularly enjoying the fate of the LA Kings, who tanked *hard* and had their fans really embracing it, only to drop all the way from 2nd to 5th.
  9. Any issues with getting Podkolzin to the USA immediately? Or will he play over there for a while first? He's not ready to come over immediately. There's always someone who surprises and makes a team out of camp, but there's only two guys in this draft who are sure-fire immediate NHLers, and I've even heard some whispers that a year in the minors wouldn't hurt Hughes (the presumed No. 1 overall). I'd plan on Podkolzin spending at least two years in Russia.
  10. This was only an 8.2% chance to get into the top 3, otherwise they would have stayed back at 12 or possibly worse.
  11. Alright, third it is. Jumped 9 spots. That's *huge* for the team's immediate future.
  12. Even No. 3 is great. That's probably that Russian Podkolzin as BPA, though you could *maybe* talk yourself into Bynam if you just had to have a defenseman.
  13. The three teams that jumped were leaked a few minutes early on twitter but I didn't believe them.
  14. Division odds Fangraph: 31% 538: 12% BP: 8% Playoff odds Fangraphs: 44% 538: 23% BP: 12%
  15. It's honestly more fun at this point if they don't.
  16. Except Brandon Kintzler for some reason Good job
  17. It's gonna be funny when no one on the Cubs ever pitches good ever again.
  18. I was gonna post just so it didn't look like I was only posting when things were going bad (I am, though) but nobody else is posting either. Hilarious.
  19. That's one more win than the Cubs have. How is that worse?
  20. I wonder what we could get for Javy in terms of prospects. He won't be in his prime by time we're ready to compete again.
