  1. I was logging in to say Trubisky looked decent-ish in what I had seen. Oops.
  2. That’s what you get for calling a dumpy little screen on third down. Rip Nagy
  3. If you're throwing away mid round picks for meh QBs mineaswell throw a future first and some mid round picks and hope it gets you the next Mahomes, or at least Watson. Based on Pace's 1st round track record so far... I'm not sure what you're advocating here. Trading firsts to a team with an elite young QB? Trading up in the next draft?
  4. Mineaswell throw some more picks into the maw if it gets you a QB. Can’t get any more screwed in the medium-term outlook than they already are.
  5. GM first, but the next GM has to keep Nagy and that eliminates any hire with self-respect.
  6. A bunch of 2 yard runs would not have fixed the problems in yesterday’s game. Throwing the ball and praying to get Mitch going by some miracle is still the best play. Trying to improve things by running the ball more is trying to win friends with salad.
  7. Top 10 will do in a pinch. I'm sorry that you don't wanna hear it, but the Bears are screwed. They blew their wad betting on Trubisky and Mack and since one of them is bad, it won't be enough, and it's gonna take years to unwind it all. Running the ball more won't save them.
  8. At least the Hicks injury crippled the defense so we can limp home to 6-10 instead of convincing ourselves we won't get housed in the first playoff game that requires 21+ points to win.
  9. I know this is you schtick or whatever, but the 49ers are currently undefeated with an offense featuring a basically an average QB in Garappolo handing off a bunch and a strong defense. And it's not even like they have a bunch of highly pedigreed RBs either and are handing it off to an Ezekiel Elliot-type 30 times a game. Where you're kind of right is that you better be able to defend the pass in the NFL in 2019, which is a huge part of the 49ers success right now. The Bears D, not so much, but it'd be a lot more interesting to see if their performance could improve if they had an O capable of staying on the field. Although that may not be it either, they have given up huge series at the beginning of halves or games where they shouldn't be fatigued at all. I got to see very little of the past 3 games, mostly listening on the radio, so this isn't even a defense of Mitch or anything. Yesterday sounds like it was very ugly by him, but there isn't a justification for Nagys play call split at this point. It certainly isn't a winning strategy. At best it only serves to force Paces hand on Trubisky's future. ETA: Bears D is still average at defending the pass, but last year they were elite. At the end of the day you want a elite passer rating differential. You can be elite at one and average at another like the Bears were last year. But average at one and below average at another... Well it's obvious the Bears could easily be 2-4 and are fortunate to still be at 3-3. If they can fix the pass D, they don't need to pass a bunch. Sure. You can overcome a bad offense if your D is fantastic. But depending on running the ball still makes your offense bad. You're not winning because you're running. The 49ers can enjoy their one-year blip in the sunlight like all the other elite-D, no-QB teams. Maybe they'll get through to the SB, maybe they won't. But then next year the same four teams with elite QBs will be back in the mix again and they won't.
  10. I'm pretty sure someone could rig up a deal where you get audio of Santo screaming "yes" or "no" at random intervals over a Hughes broadcast. Should pretty much approximate him being in the booth.
  11. 1) you have to pass when you are losing 2) you should pass even when you aren’t losing because passing is awesome and running is irrelevant in the current NFL
  12. I see Trubisky got his trademark stat padding done late
  13. The fun part is that they have no real ability to change directions for at least a couple of years. It’s just gonna be progressively worse, less hopeful versions of this.
  14. 98% of that video reminds me of how hard Maddon tried to lose that game. But I'll always defend a quick Hendricks hook. Dude does have a tendency to lose it after 90 pitches sometimes.
  15. When I left North Dakota after abandoning my job so that it could be eventually picked up by Da Bum, the landlord tried to get us for an extra carpet fee on top of the security deposit, sending a notice with a threat to file a lawsuit. I did a bunch of googling about North Dakota tenancy law, some calculations on how old the carpet was when we moved in versus how long it was expected to last, etc. Being young at the time and dumb+spineless to this day, I was prepared to offer them a small settlement based on those calculations. But when I got them on the phone and they quoted the absurd number they wanted, I audibly laughed and said "good luck with that one," hung up, and never heard from them again. Landlords can be second after billionaires against the wall when the revolution comes.
  16. Stopping the run doesn't matter.
  17. Cardinals went 5-2 against them this year, including 3 of 4 at home and have home field advantage. With Anibal Sanchez starting game 1. This won't be a cakewalk. Especially since it'll set up where Wainwright only pitches at home. Cardinals beat Scherzer twice this year. none of these things mean anything, I dont understand why people cite stuff like this in baseball 1998 Cubs ended my belief in those stats.
  18. It's weird to think that either the Nats or Cardinals will be the NL champions.
  19. Maddon tried *so hard* to lose game 7
  20. Including the upcoming one, four out of five Bears first-rounders will have been spent on defense, and the fifth was a busting QB. You get what you draft. The offensive line is completely awful. Obviously the QB play isn't great, but it's the offensive line that's putting them down into the bottom of the league.
  21. Bright side: everyone can stop pining for Chase Daniel the next time Trubisky is busting.
  22. Defense doesn't actually matter in the modern NFL but we're gonna keep trying forever.
  23. We didn't wanna hear it then, but aging curves have always been younger than people think and they keep getting younger. Players do not, on average, continue getting better into their late 20s. It's very reasonable for a guy to have his best season at age 23 or 24.
  24. Everyone stop trying to make the play-in game a series forever.
