  1. I had no idea these were best of 3 until I saw the "if necessary" on Lester's start.
  2. The NFL standings are treating the Bears' first three weeks as real accomplishments, so it balances out.
  3. You may have missed where they extended him 3 years prior to last weeks game Wrote that off as dead money as soon as it was signed. That's just the Pace Tax.
  4. Cohen has like three meaningfully good plays in the last year. I’m not super worried about replacing him and wouldn’t hate it if we used it as excuse to pick up a lesser but more traditional RB to replace him.
  5. Why are we talking as if the competitive window is currently open?
  6. I don't even know what to think about that game. Every important player I can think of looked awesome at times and complete poop from a butt at times. Foles definitely looked more comfortable in the pocket and reading the field than Trubisky ever has. He still should have had two picks (that 4th down lollipop that magic'd its way through three defenders). We are spending way too much on the pass rush to have a QB be able to take deep drops with impunity like that, but we did get there at key times and the defense really took over the fourth quarter when it had to. I still don't think this is a good team. But it's not an awful team and it's a healthy team, and you can easily get to double-digit wins in the NFL by being not terrible, healthy and lucky.
  7. Lemme heavily recommend stack and tilt. It won't get you to the tour or impress anyone with distance, but in a few weeks it's got me from no idea where the ball is going to hitting consistently high and straight iron shots.
  8. I feel like House when it was finally Lupus. Going to the backup QB really did change everything. I still don't think this is a good team. We are 3-for-3 on coinflip games with whale-poop teams.
  9. Things I would like to see: Our receivers occasionally getting some amount of separation from their defenders Some sort of pass rush
  10. Frustrated with how badly my full swings were going, I decided to stop futzing around with tips from every different YouTube video I could find. There was one guy I liked who had a web site with a pay series of videos that promised to teach you an entire swing from the ground up, so I started over with that. 10 days of practicing every spare minute in the backyard with foam balls and a net, I felt pretty good about it, but didn’t have a chance to test it until this morning. Same par-29 9-hole course I always play. Didn’t bring nephew with me so I was able to focus on my own game instead of caddying for him. I get put with a pair of guys, seem nice enough. First hole I tell them to go first because I’m new and play the forward tees. One of them slices way right, one of them is on the green. I didn’t see where mine went, felt straight but short? We are walking to the green, I am scanning and one of the other guys looks at me and says “great shot!” I realize there are two balls on the green. One is about 12 feet from the hole, one is maybe 3.5 feet. I actually hit the green. Then he walks over to the far one. Mine was the one inside four feet. And I managed to not miss the putt for my first birdie. Nothing like a net zero to start your day. My distance is garbage but I was hitting it straight and clean all day. I went from hitting zero greens in my last two rounds to hitting 4 today, with two more that would have been on but I wasn’t sure about my distance with the new swing and had the wrong club. My chipping sucked and I had three putts edge out but I still made 39, four better than previous best and just one over bogey golf.
  11. It's baseball. Everyone is streaky and it's basically a slightly weighted RNG that needs to play out over huge samples.
  12. *Nobody* wants to be on the "Bears defense is old and not good enough" train as much as I do, but they gave up 13 points yesterday while getting 4 sacks and forcing two turnovers.
  13. I don't get that sentiment. He's doing exactly what Tiger did. It sounded sarcastic but I was being sincere. I don't think it's his play that bothers people. He just gives off this really douchey vibe. Being a troll at heart, I like him, but a lot of people don't.
  14. I for one am excited to see a protein shake douche dominate golf.
  15. I'm a little more optimistic about this team than I was before the season. I think we're seeing that Trubisky is a bottom-half starter but still a starter in the NFL, not a horrible black hole singlehandedly ruining the entire team. The TEs look functional. The offensive line isn't great but it doesn't look confused and hopeless all the time like last year. Nagy seems like he rewrote the scheme to fit the personnel, something he didn't want to do last year. I didn't expect the secondary to be this much of a strength, but it is. And Mack actually got a sack today so I don't have to hear about how advanced metrics say it's OK that he's not getting sacks. I really wish we had a real second running back to split carries with Montgomery. Using a pair of gimmick guys as RBs is going to get them hurt before the season ends. At this point, I think we're more likely to be looking at playoff scenarios than top pick scenarios when we get to a few weeks to go.
  16. Players don't peak anymore, they just decline.
  17. Just checking in to make sure I'm not missing a no-hitter
  18. I have a problem with opening the club face heading into impact. Letting my wrists flop behind my forearms is a natural habit, same reason I could never hit a baseball anywhere but 2b. Several people suggested a stronger grip, but it felt awkward. Then I was watching some YouTube stuff and I noticed I was doing it wrong: I was only moving my top hand to strengthen the grip, not both. Tried it at the range this morning and it felt amazing. Last week I finally understood how to shallow and come from inside the ball, which fixed most of my slice but I still had a tendency to push the ball. The new grip actually turned it into a little bit of a draw and it started on line consistently. It felt like the club was on a groove and I couldn’t mishit unless I did it on purpose. Distance went up too. I can’t wait to go to the course next time and have all of this evaporate by the third hole.
  19. I try to think that way but I am a sucker for numbers. I finally hit a real drive on a par-4. Not massive, but 200 yards and in the fairway. I pushed the approach shot to just a few yards right of the green, but managed to stick it directly behind the random lone tree sitting there. I had no line to the green at all. Chipped to the apron, then up to within 5 feet, one putt for bogey. I wanted that par so bad.
  20. Did you also crap a gold brick so big it broke your toilet? Is your wife just too hot?
  21. 43 today, continuing to gain on it. My irons were perfect in warmups and for the first three holes, then kind of fell apart on me. Chips were mostly good but I had two get away from me, one on a tough downhill lie and the other I thought I hit perfect but the green was fast and downhill and it just never stopped even as I was celebrating. Putting was finally acceptable. 17 putts on 9 holes, one three-putt. Hit almost all of my 3-7 footers. Two things have helped me there: setting the line on ball with the line i want to putt, and having the ball a little forward in the stance to get a smoother roll. Finally hit a real drive on one of the par 4s, 190 yards on the fairway. Got the distance right on the approach but about 5 yards right of the green. Of course there was one random lone tree there and I was directly behind it with no angle to get to the green. I chipped onto the apron, then up toward the hole, then putted in for a decent 5. My handicap remains so high that my +14 was good for a net -8, including starting off with back to back net 1
  22. Another 9 holes with nephew tomorrow and I am cursed with Expectations because my range sessions lately have been amazing by my standards. I am going to be legit disappointed when my score doesn’t reflect it.
  23. So. Well. A-Rob has demanded a trade. I’m team “lol doom” but that’s crazy even for me
