  1. The Rockies optioned Rusch to AAA. Rusch, who says he is not retiring, refused to go and instead is at home. The Rockies, rather than let him become a FA, have placed him on the restricted list. http://blogs.denverpost.com/rockies/ Of course, would Rusch be a better loogy than Cotts? He may be done. He definitely should not be in the rotation. He has been horrible against righties this year and not particularly good against lefties...but would he better than Cotts? He could probably be had cheaply since he's just chilling at his house now. Worth it? Probably not, but hell, I'm bored on a Saturday morning.
  2. If we're trading with the Braves, I want Chipper. Ok, yeah that's not going to happen.
  3. The season's over. Park is closed. Moose outside should have told you.
  4. We'd probably be better off trotting out Ron with his two prosthesis than calling up Vitters. And before anyone suggests Jake Fox again...I'm pretty sure Ron in his current condition could play third better than Jake.
  5. This is being discussed in Cubs discussions.
  6. For all we know this could be happening. Axelrod mentions on the podcast that since December everything has been much more private. There is discussions right now but it will not be publicized. Who knows if those discussions are with the Cubs or not, but one thing Im sure of is none of know for sure what is going on behind the scenes. God knows Hendry isnt doing anything else worthwhile. You have no idea what Hendry is doing.
  7. I have two tickets to the make-up game vs the Astros on 7/30. I'm offering these up to NSBBers now. I can always send them back to the Cubs for a refund, but if someone wants to pay me for them, that's just as well. They are dugout box 19, row C. Face value on the ticket is $180 making it $360 for the pair. Check or money order is preferred payment since paypal would eat a good bit of that amount. I'll ship regular mail for free or you can pay for priority, express, or insurance. Needless to say, I'm pissed I couldn't use them. I was all prepared to wave a box of Twinkies at Berkman every time he came to bat. So, if you're interested in these, let me know. Disclaimer: These tickets are offered at face value and this offer is in no way related to NSBB. You are dealing with me as an individual and not this website or forum.
  8. New Orleans is not some magical location that isn't have blackout rules: MLB has them marked as a Houston/Texas market. BOYCOTT FAILED. True. I'm not sure why he's upset since he hasn't been watching games all year anyways.
  9. Agreed, but if they gave him 4 games just to flex a little muscle and be consistent with other off the field problems, it would make sense. Anything more than that would just be Goodell being a jerk because he doesn't like the guy. It will be interesting to see which owner gambles on him. I would think it would have to be a big market team with excess fans to burn. A team like Jacksonville with no fans might not be able to risk the PR hit that they would get. With the fickle nature of sports fans, fans will only complain about him if they lose. If he were to sign with a team and help that team win, the fans for that team will come around. He's always going to endure the jeers on the road, but that's just the way it is.
  10. When they play the Astros on ESPN, you'll miss those games. Oh ...and the ones against the Braves too.
  11. While I find Vick's crime atrocious. I'm a dog lover myself. He's paid his debt to society. He's been out of the NFL for a couple of years. Priviledge or not, he should be re-instated. Now, if no one wants him on his team, that's ok. But I don't think his suspension should extend past his sentence.
  12. The most anyone can do is recognize a pattern and do something different the next time. And what do you propose they do differently?
  13. Does anyone remeber Burger Chef's? They had the best kids meals back in the day.
  14. If I could just pick the right numbers in the power ball, I'd buy in!
  15. My goodness, that Sandberg is a piece of work. Constantly arguing with umpires and getting ejected. He is so disrespectful. Minor league umpires hardly make any money. They're just the common working man and they have to deal with this jerk of a millionaire who never gives to charity and thinks his stuff don't stink. I hope this arrogant, pompous, creep never manages in the bigs. Anyone who disrespects minor league umpires should be fired. The minor leagues are all about helping the kids become major leaguers. Then again, he never cared about his own kids - why should he care about others. Silly me. Barry Bonds is an ANGEL compared to Sandberg the horrible.
  16. For an enjoyable read, It's Not Brain Surgery by Larry Dierker.
  17. I might watch just to see if Gamel can make four errors tonight. Of course, I'm sure Ryan Braun's great defense in left will make up for it.
  18. Millie: Crash must have called the guy a [expletive] sucker. Annie: Mmmmm, he's so romantic!
  19. Ha ha ha, can you believe that. Anything that travels that far should have a stewardess on it.
  20. Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well.
  21. Stop trying to strike everbody out. Strike outs are boring. Strikeouts are facist. Get some ground balls, they're more democratic.
