  1. Yes. Even in the horrible post AS numbers, he still had an 855 OPS. That's not horrible. Considering he still has the ability to post an OPS over 900 in a full season, he is worth acquiring. He's still only 26 years old. He hasn't entered his prime yet. Considering this team's two biggest needs are slugging and OBP and Dunn helps with both of those. But there is no concern at all for his 2nd half? That is more than just a minor slump, it is half a season. I just wouldn't give up the farm for him, he's not in the same class of superstars that you do that for. Just my opinion though. I think his entire career speaks more than his second half. I also think his age must be taken into consideration.
  2. Oh...and furthermore, this thread should be stickied.
  3. I haven't read the whole thread as I've been watching football. Based on some of the comments, my guess is Hendry is given one year to turn it around. If he fails this offseason, he will be gone. It will be interesting to see how this affects his decisions. It will be interesting to see where he goes with his choice of manager. I fear he will look for a "winner" and go with Piniella.
  4. I should have started Colston.

  6. I think you're going to beat me unless McNabb just sucks which is unlikely.
  7. If Ramirez does leave, the Cubs should make an all-out push to acquire Cabrera. He's the one player who could make up for the loss of Aramis.
  8. The Cubs need to add some slugging somewhere. Regardless of what one thinks of Pierre, CF or 2b make the most logical choices as places to add it. The third possibility involves moving Murton and adding it at left. I think the Cubs should make a priority to look into trading for Andruw Jones or signing Soriano. Either one of those answers the slugging problem at CF or 2b respectively.
  9. Franconca would be nice. :D I've always assumed he wasn't available. I think I might like Tito as a choice as much as I'd like Dierker.
  10. Actually, I hope Jim and Dusty don't part ways. I'd like Jim to announce on Monday that he and Dusty are stepping down together.
  11. Sully, that's a really bad idea. Realize that Aramis is the best offensive 3B in the NL right now. You don't just let him go and let Scott Moore try and replace him. Additionally, the chances of signing both Zito and Schmidt are next to zero. That's a last place lineup in support of a merly above average pitching staff. . While I agree it is near an impossibility to sign both Schmidt and Zito, that pitching staff is much better than above average. It likely would be the best pitching staff in baseball.
  12. If we're going to use a manager who has already managed somewhere....why not Dierker!!!!!!!
  13. I'm still in favor of acquiring Giles, but the need to upgrade SLG is paramount as the positions we likely have openings are postions where it is difficult to find a power bat. If we're going with Murton if left, which I support, we'll need SLG from SS, 2b, or CF. Giles doesn't do that. But if Soriano is off the board, then I'd want Giles or Durham for second. I still prefer dealing for Jones if we're going to deal with the Braves.
  14. If Florida wants to move Willis, I could really see Texas getting in on it like they tried with Beckett. I could see a deal that would be Blalock+ one of the DVD boys + another prospect, possibly Mayberry.
  15. Fred, You sure it isn't the Cubs who've made you sick?
  16. It's a very well written article. A house-cleaning would be nice.
  17. No offense, but if Rosenthal said "top positional player, like Carl Crawford or Jeff Francoer" how do you translate that to an offer of Pie and a pitching prospect? You shouls ammend it to say hopefully Hendry will offer Pie and a pitching prospect so Flordia can laugh at us. If they are looking for players like Crawford or Francoer for Willis, that means they are looking for young players with established success in the majors in an exchange for Willis. The Cubs might could package Murton for him, but I doubt Murton has that much value.
  18. It actually is a pretty good site. I visit it daily. He doesn't too much of the rumor thing. But again it's just a rumor, although dones't seem like a far fetched one. It's a good site for following Wrigley happenings. His recent transaction rumors haven't panned out. This season it's been 1) a trade for A-Rod, 2) TWalker to the Giants was 'imminent' (the Hillenbrand debacle supposedly kiboshed that at the last moment), and 3) Maddux would not be traded at the deadline. Not sure if I've missed any. So, his sources are pretty much dealing a sombrero for the season. I feel better now saying there's probably not much to this one either.
  19. Who is we? I love watching Clemens pitch. He is one of the greatest power pitchers ever to play the game. In saying we, I was speaking for those that are tired of the large media-driven Clemens circle jerk.
