  1. According to the HOF web site, 2pm EST or 1pm CST. So we should know something right about that time. Good luck, Ron!
  2. Spring training games don't count. They should. In that case, im not going to be in the pool. No problem.
  3. Bruce, I liked the first line of the article. Good words.
  4. I usually drink after the games. And this past season caused the need for much of it. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again in May.
  5. I have a few extras, but I'm hardly local.
  6. Just a reminder for those who haven't selected their date/ Check the first post to see which dates have been chosen.
  7. I like my team ok. C- Varitek 1b- Berkman 2b- Kinsler SS- Tulowitzski 3b- Tracy OF- Dunn OF- Pierre OF- Taveras Util- Alou SP- Zambrano SP- Sheets RP Sheets RP- Gagne P- R. Hill P- Schmidt P- C. James BN- Blalock BN- Murton BN- Hardy BN- Nolasco BN-Weathers
  8. I liked mine up until I had to go auto pilot.
  9. I apologize for buying tickets I can't use. If someone will find me a free place to stay close to Wrigley for late May, I'd be happy to let them have some Sox tickets at face. As it is, hotels are more than $100 a night and I need to pay for that. Re-selling these tickets accomplishes that goal. Sorry if that offends anyone's sensibilities.
  10. Hopefully Barrett will give the Cubs a very team friendly deal.
  11. <----Adam Dunn's Shoes
  12. We can't trade Marquis yet. If Marquis was told he was being put in the bullpen, I'm sure he'd ok a trade.
  13. With their payroll if the Cubs fail to contend in a league this crummy then Hendry should be shot out of a cannon Do you honestly believe every single one of those predictions and believe there will not be one single 90-win team in the whole darn league? Also, if I'm not mistaken most predictions gravitate toward the mean. It's not surprising that no team has an excessive amount of wins.
  14. Well, that's some reason for optimism. I'm waiting for the DiamondMind projections which are usually pretty accurate as well.
  15. Care to offer a comparison to the last regime? Dusty showed promise at the beginning of his tenure, but he never warmed to Chicago. As I wrote one time, he probably couldn't name all the beat writers and what paper they worked for. Lou has used my name more in the Fitch Park portion of spring training than Dusty did in four years. And I'm not exaggerating on that one. The San Francisco media treated Dusty with kid gloves, to say the least. And some people out there sniped at the Chicago media and Chicago fans for their "unfair" treatment of Dusty. And no, there have been no "Dudes" or references to Hank Aaron, Ralph Garr, Billy Swift (in reference to pitch counts), Bob Welch, and others in the daily news conferences. Thanks, Bruce. That last statement has me rotflol.
  16. If the draft goes as projected, the Bucs will get a steal taking Johnson with the fourth pick.
  17. If I'm around, someone make sure to remind me. I have family in town, so I'm likely to forget.
  18. Me either, but they gave up Kazmir for Victor Zambrano.
  19. According to comments made during HOF weekend 2005, both Sandberg and Boggs said they would vote for Santo. Based on things Gammons has written, I'm certain he'll vote for Santo as well. Santo will gain votes, but the number needed to get in is a bit higher as well since it's based on a percentage.
  20. The Mets do make an interesting trade partner as they are likely going to need some pitching. They may be the ideal team to unload Marquis on, but I have no real hopes that we'd trade Marquis. Sending Miller there might be a possibility. Marshall could also be someone they might have some interest in as well. Marshall for Milledge?
  21. Care to offer a comparison to the last regime?
  22. If Miller's velocity is still down they might convince him to accept a "rehab assignment" to start the season. Honestly, I don't see any scenario that doesn't include an injury that would put Guzman in the rotation before mid to late May.
  23. Great article by Bruce as he writes a nice piece about the Cubs new manager. A few points of interest.
