  1. There are some interesting names on that list. If the Cubs still need a middle infielder, Walker is an interesting option. Jenkins and Clark of the Brewers both would be interesting as well. I thought he was supposed to be the new face of the braves no, that would be Frenchy and McCann.
  2. According to today's paper, "The Houston Astros still have a commanding lead in the polling to name Your Home Team, despite another round of Internet message-board driven votes for the Chicago Cubs." How they are aware of this, I don't know. Tim, are you getting any hits other than mine from a Monroe IP? Anyway, let's see if they can survive another round today. Let's send in the calvary!
  3. I haven't counted since yesterday, but it looks like 35 single votes with 80-100 counting duplicates.
  4. fixed it last night
  5. Link. Big mistake by the Astros. Pence plays a better CF than Burke and hits better too. I'm rather thrilled that the Astros have chosen to go with inferior players so that Biggio can get 3000 hits.
  6. [sigh] Again ????? He's becoming the AOL of NSBB. I wouldn't be surprised if he was sending out spam emails at this point. I've paid my dues. I only solicit votes once a year, and considering what I did for Derrek Lee a few years back, you'd think you guys wouldn't mind so much. Don't mind at all. Just teasing you. Ok. cool. Have you voted?

  8. Meh. I have to put up with both the Astros and the Rangers being considered "home teams". Nevertheless, you have my vote. I'm in the same boat with the TV, but thankfully my local paper doesn't cover baseball outside of the local college. And yes Vance, you can count on my votes. Thanks!
  9. That was one hellova ending to a game. In celebration, everyone should send votes for the Cubs as home team to sports@thenewsstar.com
  10. Link. I guess with all the bullpen arms, the Reds don't have room for a starter.
  11. It's just a short blurb in a collumn by Stark. Link.
  12. Jayson Stark lists Jones as one of the bats on the market in this collumn. There are some interesting names on that list. If the Cubs still need a middle infielder, Walker is an interesting option. Jenkins and Clark of the Brewers both would be interesting as well.
  13. Meh. I have to put up with both the Astros and the Rangers being considered "home teams". Nevertheless, you have my vote. I could deal with the Rangers. The Astros, not so much. Thanks for the vote!
  14. Joe Carter is there. They should ask him to do the broadcast and let Plesac go home.
