  1. The question is though, why would a team give up anything knowing now that the Texans pretty much had to cut Carr if they couldn't work out a trade. Why give up a pick needlessly and then go through having to re-structure the deal? On to your other points: 1) Not from what I was hearing. What I gathered was that either Williams or AJ Hawk would be the first defensive player to go. But both would likely be gone in the top 5-7, not really worth the risk to trade down if Williams was truly the man the Texans wanted. 2) No disagreement here. That was an awful trade for the Texans, despite the good return they got. 3) I don't see anything that even hints that they didn't make an effort to trade him. Everything I've heard is that they tried all offseason making it known he was available and trying to ship him off. It's just everybody knew he would be cut and were willing to pick him up on a 1-2 year deal. I thought the Jets really wanted Bush and wanted to trade up? It's true, the Jets were at least somewhat interested in trading up-every mock draft had Mario Williams going #2 to New Orleans though, so if Houston had dropped down to #4 they would have missed their chance to draft him. Actually, the word here was that if Houston or anyone else had taken Bush, the Saints would have taken Hawk.
  2. I'll be in the first row field level past third base a bit. :D
  3. Ellison pops out to Lee for the third out. Mid 2, 1-0 Giants
  4. Frandsen triples to RF as Jones dives and misses the ball.
  5. Texans release Carr. The Texans really are an inept run organiztion. They passed on Bush, Lienart, and Young last year. Now they over-pay for Schaub.
  6. Lee bounces into a DP that Vizquel made a nice play on. End of 1, 0-0.
  7. Funny that Jimy_is_a_mispel hasn't been around in awhile.
  8. Klesko pops out to left. Vizquel holds at third. 2 out.
  9. Vizquel triples as Soriano misplays a ball in CF and the ball rolled all the way to the warning track.
  10. Cowboys sign Ken Hamlin. This is now fueling specualtion that the Cowboys won't take a safety in the draft and will look at a WR or DL.
  11. Link. A few key exerpts...
  12. I like what I'm reading so far. I'm still cautiously optimistic. Let's see how it all translates when the season starts.
  13. That was assuming injury and or poor performance by someone else that would send them to the DL or Iowa. Now that Cotts has been added, Wuertz has recovered, and Wood still has a shot to be on the active roster, there doesn't appear to be anymore room for Cherry (or Guzman). What does this mean? Has Cotts been assured a spot? It seems so.
  14. I'd like to see that line-up on Opening Day.
  15. Here's Bruce's take on Prior's outing yesterday.
  16. Only two more hours to vote. If you haven't already, please take 2-3 minutes to drop an email to sports@thenewsstar.com and vote for the Cubs.
