  1. This game is going to make it hard to switch over to Heroes.
  2. He's been dead for months. That skinny kid we saw in spring training turned out to be his kid brother.
  3. In addition to my "Vote Cubs" campaign, I'm also trying to get Sosa voted in as an American League outfielder.
  4. Hey...hey! Weaver is better than Verlander and Bonderman!
  5. I have a great deal of repect for those that fight the ham. Not everyone can fight ham... With Prior's shoulder, he may not be able to handle fighitng ham. He'd break something.
  6. He is that guy with one more no-hitter than Greg Maddux. Kent Mercker has one too.
  7. Replacing Miller with Cherry may not get us to 12 pitchers, but it essientially does the same thing for a few days. It gives the Cubs a seven man bullpen. Then when it is time to utilize the fifth starter again, a position player (Pie or Cedeno) could be optioned out and Guzman or Marmol called up to start. If I were the Cubs, Miller would either be DL'ed or DFA'ed with Cherry or Marmol being called up. Another pitcher would then be added in time for use as a fifth starter.
  8. Right now, it seems we're just unlucky. The sample size is a little too small to discern much else at this point. I'm hoping the luck evens out and the Cubs start playing more in line with their pythags. If that happens, we have a good shot at the division.
  9. Time to start taking pledges. Pledge 25 votes or more per day. I'd be nice if we could get over 1000 votes a day pledged. I'll begin with my pledge of 100 votes per day...but I've already cast 1000 votes in the first three days. If you need email addresses, use the ones in your spam folder.
  10. They could wait until right before game time, but we'd probably get some wind of it as someone would arrive at the clubhouse from Iowa long before then.
  11. Ryan Harvey is the rightfielder of the future. :ducks:
  12. The Brewers will be gunning for Zambrano after his comments about them the last time they squared off. Z better bring his "A" game.
  13. And that's after today's game. Besides Miller and Zambrano, the pitching has been the least of our worries. It's our offense's inability to score runs. Wrong. It's our offense's ability to score runs consistiently. We're second in the division in scoring runs. Our pythags indicate we should have the best record in the division. We can score the runs, we just don't always score them when needed.
  14. I was clamoring for Bonds during the offseason. He would have been a decent fit for this team. He would definitely have been a better option than Cliff Floyd. Bonds playing in front of Murton is a whole lot more acceptable than Cliff. If you want bad defense in left, who would you prefer? Cliff or Bonds? Furthermore, if we're winning the whole team can be assholes. I just want to win.
  15. Spot starting for Garwilly here.... The Cubs still trying to suck the very life out of the season continue the homestand as the first place Brewers come to town. Carlos Zambrano who owns a sparkling 7.77 ERA takes on Vargas who is 1-0 with an ERA that needless to say is lower than Zambrano's. Ok. Let's get a win, biatches. Losing sucks! Go Cobs!
  16. How about the Cubs DFA Miller and call up Cherry until it's time for the fifth starter. Then send down Cherry and bring up Guzman.
  17. Emotionally, I'd like to keep Zambrano. But, if he's not going to be re-signed during the season, and if Hill and Lilly prove they can anchor the rotation, I wouldn't be entirely opposed to dealing him. Ideally, I'd like to see the Cubs get a young hitter and pitcher who are both major league ready in the deal.
  18. Lord knows why. I'm pretty sure he played SS his whole time at LSU, and has played some SS in the minors. At worst he'd be adequate, and his bat is so much better than Izturis/Cedeno that it'd make up for the difference in defense. Yeah. My guess is they don't think his arm is strong enough to play SS, but hell that hasn't stopped Eckstein.
  19. Upon Soriano' return why wouldn't Lou go with Theriot at SS, DeRosa at 2B, Soriano in LF, Pie in CF, Jones/Murton/Floyd in RF? This means Cedeno will probably be DFA, along with Miller (I hope). Well Cedeno doesn't have to be DFA, nor should he be. He's still young with options. But, I would love a line-up that looked something like this: LF Soriano SS Theriot 1b Lee 3b Ramirez RF Jones/Murton/Floyd C Barrett 2b DeRosa CF Pie/Jones For whatever reason, they don't seem to want to put Theriot at SS. But, could Theriot play CF? Pie could be sent back to Iowa, and Theriot could get his ABs splitting time with Jones in CF leaving RF for Murton or Floyd.
  20. The fact remains that Lee without power is Sean Casey.
