  1. I know we're all feeling depressed and anxious after the euphoria of the weekend, but all is not lost. Our magic number is still four with five to play. While the Brewers will win tonight, I don't expect them to win out. We had won four in a row coming into this game, so we were due a loss. Hopefully, tonight's game will serve as a wake-up call and the guys will come out tomorrow and get the win.
  2. http://ml.berkeleyblogs.com/archives/peterboyle.jpg HOLY CRAP!
  3. This thread might have gone dumb, but it's no where near the dumbest.
  4. I like all of that.
  5. Kendall has had some success against Willis, so it wouldn't surprise me if he were starting tonight.
  6. I'm at work and I'm giving 100% to being one mean SOB right now.
  7. I'm waiting until they clinch. When are you arriving/leaving? My flight arrives on Friday around 2 and I'm leaving Monday morning around 9, which means I'll have to be at the airport pretty early then.
  8. Ok. To the four aces, we're counting on you!!!!!
  9. Hey guys, don't count the Cards out yet. The Brewers have made blowing leads an art form this year.
  10. I've tempted fate and booked a non-refundable plane ticket to Chicago for the LDS games.
  11. Once again, assuming he wasn't the starter....Zambrano.
  12. Helton doesn't seem like he's interested in getting involved from his comments to the media. Lack of interest in spilling it to the media and lack of willingness to cooperate with an MLB investigation into the matter (if there ever is one) are two different things. Very true. My guess is Helton doesn't want to comment publicly on it, yet he may still be willing to comment privately when MLB officials come calling.
  13. Sweet Jeebus  This makes it unbelievably tempting to reduce the number of people I'm bringing down to one, then selling off the other two to pay for my plane ticket and two days' worth of beer. Those prices will only go up as the cubs clinch and we find out who they play and when. Not necessarily. People who are willing to pay those prices are paying them now. If people who are thinking of selling flood the market with more tickets, it's possible some may be found for a little cheaper. Of course, the prices could jump some as the match-ups become final and fans of the opposing team decide to make the trip and buy tickets. I think the prices would be highest now as fans who were relying on getting tickets via the Cubs are now desperate to snatch up whatever they can. That and the fact that the Cubs had an awesome weekend that seeminly assures them of a playoff spot (as a fan I can't believe that yet), and the initial demand will be sky high. Eventually, the market will even itself out and will bottom out until about 1-2 days prior to the events when they will jump sharply again. That's what I'm thinking as well. I'm keeping my eye on it as I'm trying to grab a ticket or two for the game three. Thanks to Mark_R again for my ticket to game 2.

  15. I might have to tank the season to get the rights to draft McFadden.
  16. That was before today, at least I am assuming it will go down after today. Cubs = 97.4 Brewers = 2.6 Wow, it's really that much in our favor now? I could see the crew ripping off, say 5-2 in their last 7 at home. Cubs would need to win 2 games, on the road. That's losing 2/3 in each series. Ok, it's definitely in our favor big time but I would have thought more like 80%. If you played the season out 100 times from this point, wouldn't you think a team thats 3.5 games up with 6 to play would win it more than 80 times? Remember the computer doesn't know that a few days ago it was tied. The Cubs could have been 20 games up in mid-August and now 3.5 up. Either way, the odds that a team has managed to be good enough amass a 3.5 game lead through 156 games will be able to win enough to make the playoffs an extremely high perentage of the time In other words, the computer doesn't realize it's the Cubs.
  17. This thread is more like it! Go Cobs!
  18. If Winters did what it's said he did, he should no longer be a MLB umpire. It's as simple as that. If he wants to keep umpiring, let him umpire in the Frontier League or someplace like that.
