    McCarver's new bit of wisdom is that the Cardinals are playing so well because these guys were fighting for playing time. They are hungry, hence they play well.

    I think that he's just having issues with his control. Hard throwing pitchers with stuff that moves as violently as his go through these from time to time. His stuff is still moving sharply and his velocity isn't down, so I don't think he's hurt. I think some of it could be mental. We just might have to use him in lower leverage situations until he gets it back.

    I don't think Marmol is dealing with an injury or dead arm. He's just lost his control. With his stuff, that's not always uncommon.

    Marmol is just going through a stretch where he's struggling with control. It happens a lot with pitchers who have his kind of stuff. Sometimes it's just hard to control that. I don't think he's hurt, but he does need to find the plate.

    I don't think it's so bad. This is a good cushion to let Marmol get his confidence back in a game situation.
