  1. Mark, Any chance of getting an interview with John Stockstill either right before or right after the draft in June?
  2. That was an excellent interview and another reason why I think this is the best site to get information on the Cubs, especially the minor leaguers. Kudos to you Mark! I'm going to have to re-read the interview tomorrow when I can concentrate on it better. The baby is a bit fussy right now.
  3. Would I be drinking too much :bluekoolaid: if I predict the Cubs to win 160 games this year? :fingerscrossed:
  4. Unfortunately, no. I did tell him that I'd like to see him start many games in left this season, though. Slacker. I was able to get Dubois to sign an extra NSBB tshirt, and I told him that it was a great Cubs fan website that has a Jason Dubois Bandwagon up and running. He smiled and said, "That's great!" :) That's the extent of the conversation -- it was a mob scene in front of the table, so I couldn't really stand off to the side and chat. But you can rest easy, Vance -- the Bandwagon did get a plug. Serena picks up the slack! Maybe the creature will visit the site.
  5. Unfortunately, no. I did tell him that I'd like to see him start many games in left this season, though. Slacker.
  6. I'm glad you got his autograph. I was surprised that he was still signing when I walked by at 12:00 (he started at maybe 11:10). That was nice of him. Apparently, he actually did arrive Saturday morning but wasn't at his autograph session for some reason. I posted a thread about his gum here: Premium Non-Premium I'll post my report in a little bit. I will say that I also got Dubois' autograph on my pass while I was looking for information on the Carlos line. After he signed on stage, he just stood around at signed for more people. Nice guy. Also, my el rides took only 60 minutes each way. I was pleasantly surprised. Did you mention the BandWGN to him, Jon? I was expecting a little plug.
  7. Nice report, UMFan. And great teaser for Jon's report later. Now how can I go watch football when I'm eagerly waiting for that. :(
  8. If the Cubs themselves aren't being that optimistic about Guzman's health, that is very worrying. It is good to see Renyel Pinto and Sergio Mitre get some love though. It also makes me wonder if Mitre could win the 5th starter's job. :-k
  9. Wow, thanks a ton Vance! No problem. No guarantees, but he was pretty easy to get in Houston last year. If I can get him again, I'll hook you up. Would you prefer a ball or card signed?
  10. Jessica, I've had some luck getting Barrett's auto, so when I go to Houston to see the Cubs this year, I'll try to get one for you.
  11. Jon, Thanks for the detailed recaps. Makes me feel like I was really there. Excellent job.
  12. I'm sure he'll post his full report tomorrow.
  13. Great write-up Jon. Very informative. I look forward to the rest of it.
  14. Dusty needs to look at the sig! What has Hollandsworth proven? He's proven throughout his career that he's average.
  15. We all knew the Hogg would be here. It's the game thread pimp!
  16. Roberto Alomar signs with Devil Rays on January 17, 2005.
  17. Serena, I'm around a lot late...as is Raisin, Jon, Slugger, etc. (see chit chat thread.) So I'd be willing to spot start if necessary. Of course a turn in the rotation too....! :)
  18. Or Mercker? 8-[ That would be an entertaining game thread!! How about letting Dusty start it?
  19. Sign me up! I'm ready for the season, now!
  20. Baker signed a four year deal. This next year will be the third. I think it is the make or break year in the relationship. If the Cubs succeed and come at least as close to a championship as they did in 2003, then Baker will likely be given an extension. If, on the other hand, 2005 more closely resembles 2004, then 2006 will be Baker's last year and the Cubs will go into a different direction in 2007.
  21. Over your years of covering the Cubs, which players have you had exceptionally good relationships with? If you can, which ones have you not had good relationships with? How difficult is it to strike a balance with informative journalism and maintaining a friendship with these players?
  22. I was just reading that D'angelo Jiminez could be non-tendered. Would the Cubs have interest in him?
  23. Bruce, How close is Hollandsworth to signing with the Cubs? Would he be the primary leftfielder or would his role still be a bench player if the team stays constructed as it currently is?
  24. Welcome to the forum. I know you will like it here.
