  1. I was honored to be able to ask the first questions.
  2. I don't think he'll be able to read that reply. jon comes through with the shoe-whipping. He deserved it for sassing the mods. That's a rule isn't it? If not, it should be.
  3. I don't think he'll be able to read that reply. I guess we wanted a little less "strife" on the boards! I'm assuming he's been Yanr'ed.
  4. I don't see that anywhere meriting a discussion of Lee vs Pujols and some of the comments that ensued there. I guess some trolls will do anything to take a jab at someone.
  5. I highly suggest you read the Game Thread Etiquette thread: | Once again' date=' I've beaten you, Jon. Of course, what else is new? :D
  6. I'm still of the belief that other teams' fans should stay out of the game threads.
  7. disingenuous? hahahahaha, yeah, okay. pujols trails in just about every offensive category to lee, yet he deserves the MVP? this isn't really the place for this, but i really think you can find a better argument against vance than this. it's really pathetic. He trails him in average and HR by a small amount, leads OBP by a small amount, trails in SLG by about 30 points, and other than that it's about even. The difference between the two is that Lee has been hitting .270 in the second half (while the Cubs fell apart), while Pujols has been hitting over .360 since the All-Star break, as the Cards put away the division. Who do you think will end up with the better stats? ;) We've discussed this ad nauseum in another thread. Let's keep it there. And as I said there, if Pujols finishes with the better numbers, then he should be the MVP. On the other hand, if Lee still leads in avg, HRs, OBP, and SLG as he was at the time I made my case for his being the MVP, then he should be there.
  8. First of all, let me begin by thanking you for taking our questions. If I'm remembering correctly, you and Ryan Harvey played for the same high school. Now that you are both in the Cubs system, do you keep in touch? What kind of things do you talk about if you do? Secondly, you had some struggles earlier this season after having a phenomenal year last season. Now that you appear to have turned the corner this season, was it hard to keep your focus during your struggles? Third, what do you like to do in your free time?
  9. Who's the Cardinals' backup 1B? Mabry or Gall.
  10. OML. I seriously think it is only Cardinal fans who think Carpenter deserves the Cy. Does anyone know how long it's been since a pitcher finished with a season with an ERA as low as Clemens? I'm no fan of Clemens, but he's clearly earned this Cy Young.
  11. Ramirez is playing a cruel trick on me so I'll actually listen to the rest of the game.
  12. I'm somewhat glad that I'm not being subjected to the idiocy that is Buck and McCarver.
  13. I don't have a problem with a four year deal as long as you aren't paying four million a year for four years. It's a lot easier to eat the last year of the contract for a manager when it isn't that much money.
  14. I doubt the guys down here in Louisiana will show it either. That means I'll have to listen to Pat and Ron call the action.
  15. I agree. I think the best case scenario would be for the Cubs and Baker to sit down and agree on a mutual buy-out. Possibly, the Cubs pay Baker 2 million to go away and he is free to manage elsewhere. This makes too much sense, so I doubt it happens at all.
  16. In his article is yesterday's Daily Herald, Barry Rozner raises the question whether Dusty is making statements designed to get him out of Chicago. Here's his lead in: Rozner goes on to mention that Dusty is making rather strange comments that constantly seem to raise the ire of management. He mentions Dusty discussion the possible retirement of Maddux to the statements regarding putting Wood back in the rotation this year. Rozner compares what Baker is doing here to the games he played in San Francisco at the end of his tenure there. The article raises some serious questions about Baker and what could happen here in Chicago if he isn't let go. Nice article all around.
  17. Someone be sure to post when the game begins. I'm at my mother's and there's not a TV in here with the computer.
  18. I'm 5' 7'' and 1/2. And yes, I make a point to mention that 1/2.
  19. Vance meets Barrett too. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/vance_the_cubs_fan/meandbarrett.jpg
  20. I like winning, especially against the Cardinals. No ##@$@$ing way we can do it three times in a row.
