    Wasn't it 4 weeks? I don't know, would a Colvin/Fox platoon be any worse than what they got this year, .262/.368/.406 in RF? Perhaps. I think Colvin could be really really bad. But I think he stands a chance of holding his own, especially if you let a guy like Fox attempt to mash the lefties. Tyler's career line .277/.320/.465. Oh wait, you were saying if he finishes this season with 2 hot weeks, not that he did finish his AA season with 2 hot weeks. Yeah, the Cubs are pretty dumb, but I don't think they will make a decision based on that alone. They are pretty much screwed in the OF regardless of what they do, especially if they eat a bunch of Bradley money. Having a productive Colvin would go a long way to helping the Cubs deal with Salary issues. It is possible that he is finally healthy and that he is figuring things out. Also, to all of the people that are worried about trade value, Colvin's 900+ OPS this year in the second half along with a good showing the last two weeks, would definitely not hurt Colvin's trade value.

    I'm not talking about blame for what has gone wrong this season, that probably falls mostly on Soriano (after you get past the irrational offseason motivation that ultimately led to replacing Edmonds and DeRosa with Bradley and Miles). But I'm talking about the Bradley situaiton itself, which is entirely Milton Bradley's fault. Suspending him doesn't accomplish anything, but at this point we aren't looking for accomplishments. When a player becomes as indignant as Bradley has become, you pretty much have to suspend a guy. He's just a horrible employee. If he was good, look past the shenanigans, but he's not good, and he's a complete [expletive] and the other players are sick of his crap. Exactly, its not as if keeping him on the roster for the rest of the season was going to inflate his trade value. His trade value was already about as low as it could get.

    I completely agree. It is just sad that Bradley couldn't quit when he was ahead. Sometimes you have to have thicker skin. There was a famous writer that said something to the effect of "only two things can ruin a writer's career 1. listing to criticism 2. listening to praise." Bradley became too concerned about what every one else thought about him, when he should have just played the game.

There is nothing racist about not liking a guy that can't keep his mouth shut and throws a pity party for himself every time things don't go his way. Calling his suspension racist, demeans all of the minorities that actually faced and still face real racism.

    Because of you great statistical analysis in the past, I refuse to believe that you are being serious. Bradley had become a major distraction for the team. If you are a player and you don't like the fans or your teammates fine, but you really need to have some respect for yourself and keep your mouth shut at the appropriate times. It is all part of the deal. I don't think Hendry deserves a lot of credit, because he was the guy that brought Bradley here in the first place, and the season is over for the Cubs anyways.

    Intriguing. While I dont know how to feel about this, which I dont see happening anyway as its just specualtion, not even rumor, Id prefer it 100% over a salary dump or some prospects. If we do end up gettig rid of Z, this would probably be the best way to go. -Peavy prefers the NL, with the Cubs as one of his top 2 choices. -Ozzie and Cooper seem to think they can strighten Z out+Z and Ozzie seem to have a good relatinship -The White Sox are among the teams that Z said hed like to play for other than the Cubs. -Both have their share of nagging injuries, but not to the sam degree as say Sheets or Harden -While I think Z may be a bettter overall pitcher, Peavy is always been consistant as opposed to Z and his off a gain on again schtick I can see this happening. It makes sense for both teams.

    Yes, it is a conspiracy. Every one is out to get the poor guy. No, not what I was saying at all. He's been extremely easy to dislike everywhere he's ever been. Which sucks, because he's good at baseball. Trading him will suck even worse, because there is no way for us to come out ahead in that. That's my main point here. Apparently there is a point where being decent at baseball isn't enough. It just goes to show that if you are a shitty enough of a person, your shittyness can outweigh your baseball skill, unless your last name is Puljos or Bonds.

    I don't! But he played 658,345 minor league games and worked hard to get here and substitute teaches in the off season. That alone should earn him playing time, right? Yes, we should give him at least 4 - 5 seasons to get his swing together before we write him off.

    Well, if you had a pain in the ass working with you everyday that complained all of the time and was extremely negative would it impact your co-workers performance? If they sucked already, maybe. I sincerely hope the other Cubs' tears don't stain their Lisa Frank sticker-covered Trapper Keepers. I'm guessing that it gets old pretty quick when you have to work with somebody that is always complaining or blaming everything on everyone else. If we are lucky we will at least get to see at least one Bradley blow up before the end of the season or his time with the Cubs. At least then we can have a good memory of the guy.

What if it's true? I'm guessing it is true, but did it need to be reported?

    First the Cubs imploded and now it looks like some of the media is losing it.     I'm not at all disagreeing with you but who would you put in there? Fox has really tailed off at the plate and is a butcher in the field. Lou has said he will only play fox when his bat justifies it. The other option is Hoff who is hittng .220 and equally bad in the field. So the question is which of these 3 is the best option? It would be nice if Scales would try to hustle after the ball once in awhile.

    His OPS vs. lefties this year is .601 and vs. RH is .690ish. That is not bad at all.

    Marshall is a good pitcher, and if he's a reliever, his durability is pretty much a non-issue. He's better than Grabow. Gorzelanny is much the same way. Gaub isn't on the big league club because he's not on the 40 man roster. There's no need to add him now and start all the option clock stuff so he could throw 5 innings this month. I mention Fossum, Russell, and Papelbon to point out that there are mediocre options available in the minor leagues, so having Gaub on the MLB roster doesn't hurt our ability to taxi relievers to and from Iowa, or to compensate for a minor injury. Not true, his durability is still an issue as proven this year. Look at his 2nd half stats. There is a reason he isn't pitching recently.

    That potential 4 games back in the loss column seems a lot closer than it really is. God, I think Cubs fans deserve a miracle. Don't do that to yourself, man. You're only going to set yourself up for disappointment. Let it go. Accept that there won't be any Cubs playoff baseball this year and just enjoy some stress-free games until the playoffs start for the good teams. haha, exactly. Surely you have been a Cubs fan long enough to know not to get excited until they have a realistic chance.

    Marshall has serious durability issues and has been terrible the second half of this season. Any sane GM would not go into a season relying on him to be healthy. Further, Right handed batters are OPSing .815 off of him, so he's not a great option unless he is only facing LHers. Gaub is a head scratcher because if the Cubs had faith in him you would think they would have called him up already. Maybe the are trying to keep his trade value high going into the off season. Gorzellanny would be a nice swing person in the bullpen next year, and I'm sure that's what they have planned for him. As far as Fossum, Russell and Papelbon go, I highly doubt (and hope) the Cubs don't have to rely on those guys going into next season.
