  1. From Phil Rogers this morning. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-27-rogers-whispers-sep27,0,5280968.column The same article also suggests the Cubs may be interested in trading Bradley to SD for Chris Young.
  2. The announcers from the San Fransisco radio broadcast couldn't stop talking about Caridad's stuff, specifically his mid-90s velocity. The Miller Park gun may have added a tick or two, but he's fast, no doubt, and with better control than I expected. The move to the pen seems to have enabled him to let it fly. You expect he will stick next season? I do. I wouldn't mind seeing Grabow come back either... I gotta believe that he gets a spot in the bullpen next year. Lou seems to be gaining faith in him more and more as the season drags on. Interestingly, his splits in the minors show that he has been dominant against righties, but lefties are hitting him over .100 pts higher.
  3. I agree, its not like he is coming off of a horrible year and his contract of 2/21 is not that bad for a 800+ OPS OFer.
  4. Bradley talks crap about the Cubs fans and organizations... how much money do you think we lose? Bradley helps take the Cubs to the playoffs next season.... how much money do you think we gain? I'll give you a hint. One of these numbers is MUCH larger than the other. So now you are arguing with me on the point that I agree with you on? This thread is getting funny.
  5. If you owned the team you'd have a different view. It's bad business to have anyone insulting your product. You have to have some kind of rules in place or your organization goes really bad in a hurry. The fact remains that Bradley was a bad business decision in every since of the word this year. It's absurd that you think insulting fans and the organization is acceptable behavior. In baseball, the fanbase is pretty much set already. The question is whether or not you can get them to pay attention. You know what accomplishes that? Winning. And like it or not, Bradley can help us win. I have a very hard time believing the millions upon millions he can help bring in if we get to the playoffs next year is really outweighed by a few inappropriate comments that probably wont have any effect upon revenues. That's not to say I agree with what Milton is doing. He's a jerk, and I don't much care for him on a personal level. But this kind of decision is bad on the business end and the baseball end. If you feel the need to stop him from making those comments, you need to find a better way to accomplish it. This wasn't productive. Well at least you are right about one thing... winning could have helped ease the situation. For one, I'm sure if the Cubs were headed to the playoffs, Bradley wouldn't have said "no wonder they haven't won in 100 years" Unfortunately the Cubs weren't winning. Other than that, you have to be kidding. A baseball franchise wants to alienate its fanbase? and they can because they are already built in? :rotfl: There is not an owner/GM in his right mind that thinks it is good business to have players making fun of or alienating the fans.
  6. All Hendry said was that he would wait until the end of the season. That is less than 2 weeks away. I'm pretty sure that there is nobody in Chicago that wanted(or still wants) Bradley to succeed more than Hendry. After all he is the guy that put $30MM into him. Then say "we will talk after the season", instead of making a smartass little comment like,"nothing to talk about, hes home for the rest of the year." I mean come on I think you are taking this too personal. Hendry has serious egg on his face for the Bradley debacle. In all seriousness regarding Bradley's return, if Hendry is still in charge next year he would look like a complete moron if he let Bradley back on the team and Bradley had another blow up.

  8. What's to be gained by having him pitch more this year? What are the potential positives and the potential negatives? Do the risks outweigh the rewards? How about the potential benefit of getting another young starter a couple starts in the bigs before the end of the season? At one point I believe they were trying to let him have a chance at the ROY. I don't think that is going to happen anymore. Overall, I don't have a problem with him pitching to finish out the year. If he were over 200 innings or had worked a ridiculous load this year, I could see shutting him down. But let the guy finish the year on a strong note.
  9. http://baseballprospectus.com/chat/chat.php?chatId=649 Absurd to say the Cubs have 4 top 100 prospects? Seems a little strong. Vitters, Castro definitely belong in the top 100, but I don't think it is an "absurd" stretch to think J. Jackson, Cashner or Brett Jackson make the top 100. There are 8 names there. Ah, :-)) . Guess I fail at reading comprehension today. His statement is accurate.

  11. First of all I don't think adults are calling a toddler the n word. I tried to picture a scenario in which an adult could direct that kind of angry aggression towards a little tyke. All I could picture was a 3 year old version of MB brooding and stomping around which could totally be reality but I still can't see that prompting racial slurs upon him. Or this is MB's kid. http://slicedbreadtwo.com/images/uploads/thats_racist.gif I guess the sensationalism is in the alleged racism, but it would be nice if the article is true and Milton is willing to man up and apologize. I wouldn't mind seeing him back on the team next year. I realize there is no likely way this will happen, but stranger things have occurred and regardless of some comments he was a fairly productive player.
  12. I wonder if the Cubs could get anything for him in the off season?
  13. No it's not, so there. He punched out a teammate how does that give him a clean past? Thats just 1 huge thing against Z, and certainly doesnt equal a clean past The punching was a benefit to the team, and propelled them to the playoffs.
  14. Yes, your inexplicable defense of Bradley certainly is. :-)) , you know its bad, when the defense gets down to a "...but [add any name] gets away with it.."
  15. I don't think that is it at all. I think most people see think the racism excuse is a cop out. I don't for a second doubt that Bradley was subject to some racism.
  16. The question is: what would be the purpose of that? If indeed Bradley refused to play when asked to, such a grievance could backfire easily. And the fact that the Cubs are probably still going to pay him during the suspension. It seems to me that they were doing him a favor by suspending him and not placing him on the DL, due to the clause in his contract regarding his option vesting in 2011.
  17. well, racism is out the window Maybe Von Joshua isn't entirely black?

  19. Looks like Hendry has found a suitor. Maybe Bradley for Millwood could happen.
  20. i still find it funny that you believe this nonsense Good reasoning I see your point, and you have converted me...Oh wait no you havent. I listed just a few of Z's childish ass behaviors he has had as a Cub, and they are far worse than Bradley hurting Cubs fans feelings. Zambrano's beating of Barrett was considered one of the turning points for the 2007 season. Maybe if Bradley had beaten up Aaron Miles and the Cubs went on a winning streak he would been a fan favorite? In all seriousness though, who is to say that Zambrano isn't on his way out of town? Maybe Z is heading out of town, but you havent seen him ever get suspended by the team for his actions have you? Thats my question, why not? Because Z has performed well at times and has the backing of many of the "Cubbie faithful" unlike Bradley. Len and Bob just broke the situation down pretty well.

  22. He has a strange looking stance. Very aggressive. During the AB he got a hit, he swung at two split finger pitches in the dirt, before recovering to get a single over the 2B's head. Didn't see the first AB.

  24. I'm sure more and more info will get out. It sounds like some time off may be a positive thing for him, so he can deal with his issues. We tend to forget that the players are people too, and have to deal with more than baseball.
