  1. info on Colletti: http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/sf/team/frontoffice_bios/colletti_ned.jsp He was the assistant GM for the Giants.
  2. Levine was on ESPN 1000 today saying that he never said this. He said the Marlins and Cubs haven't talked for at least 3 days. No trade is imminent. See, if you try and scoop something and end up wrong, just say"it's further away than I thought". Don't play some idiot 1984 game like no tapes exist anywhere of him saying it was imminent. At least he talked about it today. Last time he said a trade was imminent and then just didn't say anything else about it ever. Trade never happened of course.

  4. Yanks signed him to a 4 year, $51 million contract
  5. Wow. Good for baseball. It sucks it took congress breathing down their necks, but at least they got something done.
  6. How sick would an outfield of Matsui/Giles/Sheff be? And add it to an infield with ARod and Jeter? That's one serious offense. I thought they wanted a defensive CF?? Why do they need more offense than they already have? I guess I don't understand why you put a 35-year-old in CF when it's probably not his natural position. While Giles certainly wouldn't be a defensive wizard in CF, he has played many games there over his career. (Including 17 this past season.) He'd certainly man the position adequately, and if your CF is capable of putting up a .900-1.000 OPS, I'm sure you can make due with "adequate" defense. It'd be like us putting Burnitz in CF all of last year. Of course Giles is going to outproduce Burnitz by far. I'm just so sick and tired of the Yankees and them gobbling up every FA.
  7. Are you referring to the supposed big trade at the end of May? The Cubs did indeed talk with the Mets and the Marlins about a big trade that would have involved Latroy and other Cubs for an outfielder and a reliever. The Cubs ended up just dealing Latroy to the Giants in a smaller deal. If you're referring to something else, I'd like to know about it. Levine is more trustworthy than anyone else in Chicago sports radio. The Cubs might have talked to the Mets and the Marlins, but Levine made it seem the trade was finalized and an announcement was coming soon. Levine was just on ESPN 1000 as I type and he's pretty much backing off on his statements. He said they haven't even talked in the past 3 days and the Cubs don't really know if the trade will happen.
  8. So, is this going to be like Levine's last rumor where he says something is coming really soon and then he doesn't say a word about it ever again?

  10. Hadn't heard this one. From Rotoworld:
  11. That's encouraging. 3-year splits Day: .341 .395 .438 .833 Night: .288 .338 .354 .692 Those are pretty drastic numbers.
  12. I was bored so I looked up Juan's day/night splits from last year Day: .324 .374 .410 .784 Night: .256 .307 .331 .638 Welcome to day baseball Juan... :D
  13. Watch us get rid of Hairston and keep Macias because Macias is a switch hitter...
  14. He also wears his hat sideways and likes to rap.
  15. Haha. That's hillarious. I guess that pretty much shows you the credibility of that website.
  16. Man, does anyone even care about the Marlins in Miami? I've been listening to Miami sports talk online for the past 45 minutes and they haven't mentioned anything about the Marlins. They've had a bunch of call-ins and not a single person has asked about the Marlins. Nothing in their updates either.
  17. Yeah, he did pretty bad this year. Pretty much took himself out of prospect status. Didn't do much better in winter ball either.
  18. yeah. I've gone one further. I'm listening to 560WQAM Miami to see if they're talking about anything. I figure there's got to be a couple of people here listening to Chicago radio hoping for updates. I figure I'd cover all the bases.
  19. Ha!!! Made my way over to Marlinsbaseball.com to see what they have heard about the possible trade. There's a bunch of them hoping the trade is for Pie and Murton.
  20. It depends how much Pierre is going to cost. I wouldn't mind a 1 and 2 of Pierre and Furcal at all. Much, much better than what we had last year IMO. I guess if it happens I'll wait until I see who's going to Florida in the deal before I pass judgement.
  21. I think you should start a thread about this or maybe we could get a mod to edit the title of this thread. I wonder who the minor leaguers would be if Hendry has come out and said he won't trade Pie or Hill.
  22. If that trade happend, could you imagine what Walker would have to say to the Chicago media on his way out? I have a feeling he wouldn't shy away from speaking his mind about the Cubs and about being traded to KC. :D
  23. I thought the Yankees wanted a CF that could play defense. Giles in CF everyday would be a joke. It would be like having Burnitz play CF every day for us last year.
  24. I think we should make up a rumor on this board and see how fast it makes it's way around the other message boards. :D
  25. Found this little snippet in the Braves mailbag on their official site:
