Hendry also said that it would be "unfair" to Miller if he didn't start and would seek to trade or release him. The long relief spot is not an option for Miller. I don't understand this at all. Is Miller too good to be put into the bullpen? Just because he was a good pitcher 3 years ago doesn't mean he should automatically be treated like gold. He's not the same pitcher he used to be. He's not throwing the in mid-90's anymore. We did the guy a favor by basically paying him all last year to use the Cubs facilities to try and get healthy. If anything, he should do whatever the Cubs ask of him, not the other way around.
