    Epatt? We have to be nearing the record for most people added to the 40-man in one season. And we clearly have a shortage of middle infielders. Epatt has been playing some CF lately. Still have to wonder why they wouldn't just bring up Pie.

    Not only is he not a good ballplayer, but he's also a very dumb ballplayer. He's forgotten how many outs there were at least 3 times this season. That's just unacceptable. He's hit a couple of key homeruns, but that's basically all he's been worth this season. You'd think with his speed that he would be above-average defensively, but he's pretty crappy in the field. He should be used as the 25th man on the team at most.

    The Brewers will block it. How? We are currently beneath them in the standings. Brewers couldn't. Cards could -- or one of the WC teams below us. I'm not going to get excited about a waiver deal unless the guy actually clears through first. He doesn't actually have to clear waivers. He just needs to get past all the NL teams who have a worse record than us.

    He better be bringing Soto with him. Watching noodle arm trying to gun down runners is getting really old really quickly.

    That's about as good as it will get. I agree, but I don't think there is any chance of this happening. Remember, we need Floyd's power... :^o Yep. That .388 SLG % and 4 homers he has is just awesome. We definitely need that in the lineup everyday.

    Hopefully Rich has been seeing a psychiatrist and is working on his confidence issues. We could really use a good start from him tonight. Also, Murton better be playing. If we see an outfield of Floyd, Jones, DeRosa I'm going to have a fit.

    I don't understand why Floyd keeps getting playing time. He's a liability in RF and his .753 OPS sure isn't anything to write home about. It's like Lou loves him because he's old, lefty, and can kill the ball once a month. I don't know if it was mentioned in last night's broadcast or sometime earlier, but we don't have a lefty on the team with more than 4 homeruns. That's pathetic.

    Go Cubs. Was it really necessary for you to take a shot at Vance? I don't really think it was a shot at Vance. It was more to the fact that Tim wants less profanity in the game thread.

    The thing is-your assumption at the beginning of the post is not completely correct. Kendall's OBP with the Cubs is over .365. There are 6 catchers out of 50 in the major leagues with 100 AB's that have that number. He is not playing terribly offensively. So-do the Cubs ride out his hot streak and take his defense with it, or do they make a move even when he's doing well offensively? Opposing players are running at will against him. We can't keep giving other teams 2nd and 3rd base. Kendall hasn't made a good throw yet. There are kids in high school that have a better chance at throwing guys out.

    Murton/Pie can probably put up similar OPS to Soriano/Jones, especially with how Soriano has played lately. Soto also needs to be called up. We can't keep having every team stealing bases at will against Kendall.

    Murton better be getting the bulk of playing time in either RF or LF. There is absolutely no excuse for him not to play now.

    I don't think anyone thinks it's an issue of the new owner not wanting Z. Thats the only thing I don't really understand. His contract regardless of size should have no bearing on a new owner. Why would the Tribune foot the bill for something they won't be a part of in a few months? How do you figure the Tribune company would be paying for the new contract? The new owners would be stuck with whatever contract the Trib gave to Z.

    Well, I pretty much expected Glavine to get the victory tonight, with Marquis going for the cubs, so I guess I'm not that disappointed with tonight's outcome. Let's just hope Soriano isn't hurt that badly.
