  1. It is the in thing for Cubs pitchers....everybody is going on the DL these days.
  2. That should do it there if the leash is short.
  3. Maybe he will go out and show the rest of the staff how to get 3 outs in under 20 pitches again.
  4. Oh, boy.... do I know the feeling !! Yeah this is my first time teaching summer term and it is been a very busy 4 weeks so far. Something about cramming a full semester into 5 weeks that makes things feel hectic.
  5. oops sorry.... been teaching class all day. Makes me numb after a while, either that or this season has.
  6. If the Cubs are 36-4 after 6 innings then how does Dempster have a 1-5 record?
  7. I don't see a problem with Hill going out for the 7th but I would have him on a short leash.
  8. Dusty will talk to him about it I am sure....might have to sit him a day or two.
  9. On cubs.com there is an article covering general news about the Cubs. IN it is an interesting note about Maddux. Here is the link: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060720&content_id=1566622&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc and here is the quote Sort of an odd thing to hear about from Maddux and sort of an odd thing to see reported by the coaching staff.
  10. You know watching Cubs games this year has been a lot like watching a burning building, it is a disaster yet you can't seem to look away.
  11. Don't you mean the neifury will save Dusty now?
  12. Let me know when your 5th grade class starts in the fall. Let's all remember to attack the post not the poster.
  13. I agree that it is classless but it does let the management know that they can't continue with what they have. The happy fans that use to be the Cubs fans are happy no more and if they are willing to trash Wrigley then they are willing to stop coming to games.
  14. That sounds like the team Dusty has wanted.....can't take a walk now can we?
  15. That was number 74 on the year for the CUBS. They are on a pace for 160 this year. I don 't know what the record is, though. Well they are off pace for the NL record then. The NL record is 166 by St. Louis in 1958 the AL record is 174 by the 1990 Red Sox. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/rb_gidp2.shtml
  16. So how many DPs does that make so far this year for the Cubs? I wonder if they are still on pace to break the record for DPs in a year.
  17. ...and once again Nefei gets the start over Walker. He must have some good dirt on Baker to continue to start. I would hope that the reason he continues to play has that sort of reasoning behind it.
  18. For those of you wondering about double play records. Here they are according to baseball almanac. AL: Boston - 174 in 1990 NL: St. Louis - 166 in 1958. http://baseball-almanac.com/rb_gidp2.shtml
  19. If I crushed a baseball like Pujols does I would stand there and watch too. Now if Pierre stood and admired a homer, that is a plunking offense. My 2 cents worth anyway. Personally I think the opposite, Pujols hits enough of them to know what one looks like. If Pierre were to stop and admire a homerun I would think it was because he hits them so infrequently.
  20. Saw this on ESPN, wasn't sure if this was the best place for it but here it is. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2469450 Six weeks could make this an interesting race again, especially with the other injuries the Cards are piling up lately.
  21. One thing I have noticed is that even though the Cubs have hung 7 runs on Mulder he only has 68 pitches compared to 65 for Rusch. Just seems sorta unusual to me.
  22. And now we get to see the true pain of the ejection with Perez coming up with the bases loaded.
  23. I only saw Hill and Mabry, no sign of Maddux.
  24. Now who was that guy we got with Murton?
  25. At least Cedeno will get to bat in front of Walker next inning. I don't think anyone on this forum is surprised that Pierre was stealing, getting cut down is acceptable losses here imo.
