  1. I'm not getting the gnashing of teeth on the refurb. I think it's cool and much needed--both in terms of physical improvement and capacity. The place will look great and there's no way the permit would have been issued if the final product will be substantially different from the 2005 "original." It's just that the location is such that everyone gets a good luck at the inner workings of the construction process. I guess I'm just one of the few who would still root for the Cubs even if they did a complete move of the team into a replica of the Philadelphia Vet in Rockford.
  2. Yes, you are overreacting. That place needed an overhaul badly.
  3. Growing up in Lena, IL, all you had to do was dial the last 4 to reach an in-town destination. Unfortunately, our number was 369-5309. You can't imagine the number of calls we received asking for Jenny!
  4. I know the numbers and logic currently don't support it, but I have a feeling that should Austin Kearns be our starting RF, he would blossom into a stud player Cub fans would adore for years.
  5. You're kidding, right? Just in case you misinterpreted the above, it's suppose to be collectively not separately. And that's not just offense. I'm talking offense, defense, speed, and overall intagibles. In particular Cedeno. The dimension he were to add is much more important to THIS team than what Cabrera would. Unfortunately for that argument, you'd have to consider Cabrera + FLA SS. Cabrera's numbers should slip, but only because the batting order around him s/b drastically worse from last season.

  7. Maybe he's just not that good. That's pretty much the way I see it. Definitely not good enough (offensively) to play RF. Kotsay battled back problems much of last season.
  8. The Killer C's? That's what I call my mother-in-law and sisters-in-law. But I suspect it stands for something different.
  9. Dodgers trade Milton Bradley & Antonio Perez to Athletics for Andre Ethier http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2258032
  10. Dammm, I'm pretty negative when it comes to the Cubs, but don't get depressed about Pittsburgh signing Bill Mueller.
  11. I'll believe it when I see it. My excitement is pegged on "E" after Furcal.
  12. I hope I'm wrong, but the Cub fan in me sees Pie = Nic Jackson.
  13. A's did well for themselves, it appears. Plus, any temptation to bring that cancer to the North side is averted. Unless they pull a Barrett deal, which I doubt.
  14. Same reason. Because he doesn't like Dusty.

  18. I agree. Corey as a spot starter and defensive replacement is the way to go IMHO.
  19. 1: I would guess "yes," he could be. 2. Not much depending on how much of the K you'd be willing to eat. Pie alone is WAAAAAAAAAAY overpaying. 3. No.
  20. Pierre, 2006. Book it.
  21. Unfortunately no. Thanks! Unfortunately, that's the answer I was expecting.
