  1. Looking forward to it. Mo and Conforto for the first time this spring + Shota for the first time on TV this year.
  2. Yeah, it was fun to watch Rea - Brown - Assad. They all looked pretty good, especially Ben. They pitched 7 innings only 3 H, 0 BB and 8 K combined. Aside from Jamo, our SP's + those backup SP's are looking good so far.
  3. Oh, I didn't know that. That makes sense. Thanks.
  4. Alcantara is finally playing, but DH? I guess they want to see other OF players.
  5. Cabrera is going to pitch tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to it. Wiggins was a bit of disappointment. Yeah, I know it was just a spring training game, but I expected a better result. So far, Ben Brown, Assad and Shota exceeded by expectations. Boyd was good today. Horton was great, too.
  6. Counsell said Long is not going to play in WBC.
  7. I didn't think Amaya as the backup 1B. It does make sense, and should be better than Mo. Hopefully, Long, another option, will be back soon. The injury didn't look that serious.
  8. I agree with you. But, like you said, we don't know if all the options are going to be bad, yet. I don't have high expectation on those guys, to be honest.😁 But, again, we're talking about backup guys, and while the role is important, not the top priority. Maybe, we get lucky. Otherwise, try to find somebody by the trade deadline, and hope the new guy works.
  9. Yeah, Jamo's HR problem continued. Horton looked very good, though.
  10. What I'm thinking is that Shaw is #4 most of the time, but he can move to 3B or 2B, if needed. Other than that, like I said in the 1st post, I don't know who it will be. But, again, having options isn't a bad thing. Signing Conforto wasn't a huge deal, but having one more guy to choose from is good. After losing Austin, I don't know who the back up 1B and RHB will be, either.
  11. Yes, to me, having multiple options is good. We're talking about the 4th (or even 5th) OF, not our main guys, like Happ, PCA and Seiya. I have a feeling Matt Shaw may be the 4th guy, though.
  12. I really don't know who fits the best, but this is a good problem to have. Personally, if Alcantara becomes the guy, I would be happy.
  13. There are more than a few guys who haven't played yet, like Mo, Alcantara, Horton and Cabrera. Hopefully, they'll play soon.
  14. Jason, did you like what you saw today (well, we could see the game)? His velo was much better. It was only 2 innings, but his 4 seam averaged 93mph. I don't think I had seen him throwing four 94+mph in one inning, either. I was very surprised. I think there was no hard hit, maybe one? He exceeded my expectations. The command was good, too. Most of the pitches were right on the edge of the zone. Another thing was that he was kind of like 2024 today. Yeah, he pitched only 2 innings, but he didn't throw any sweeper against RHB.
  15. Hollowell has been good. 3 K last time and 3 K today. No hit, no walk so far.
  16. Yeah, I agree, good news. I hoped he averages 92 today, but he was better. I was surprised by his 1st inning.
  17. Shota is looking good. He pitched 24 fastballs in 2 innings, and the average was 93.0mph. Definitely faster in the 1st inning, though. Maybe, he threw less hard in the 2nd inning intentionally?
  18. I thought both Ben Brown and Assad pitched well today. Both of them increased the velo. Very promising. I heard Shota is supposed to start tomorrow. Hopefully, he follows Ben and Assad. Too bad, we can't watch the games.
  19. What about Kevin Alcantara?
  20. Looks like Ben Brown's velocity increased a little.
  21. That was a really weird and stupid triple play.
  22. 1. I can see why you said he struggled, based on those numbers you listed. But, again, at the end of the day, it was early (mid?) March + he was under huge pressure, I assume, and 0 ER and 0 hit. 2. His splitter command was also bad, unlike the 2024 season. Again, I have to guess throwing more sweepers did something, along with the injury. In 2024, he was basically 4 seam up and splitter down low almost all the time, and it worked. Then, later in the season, the batters started figuring him out. So, he started doing different things like more sweepers, 4 seam down low. And, that continued in 2025. If his fastball velo gets better, it would get simpler for him, and he wouldn't need to try different things. Then, his command may get better, too. So, I guess you're right. His velo is the key, and the velo and the command go hand in hand, not just for fastball, but also splitter. Anyway, let's hope he'll be good this year. Shota and Jamo are my favorites.😀
  23. Thanks for the article. I liked it except; Struggled against the Dodgers in Tokyo? He walked 3 or 4, but allowed 0 hit. I wouldn't call it struggle, especially that early in March + in front of 50,000 Dodgers fans..😀 I agree the velo is important, but the location was really bad in the 2nd half. He needs to fix both. I heard he pitched a 93mph in his first live BP, so that's at least a good sign. (I also heard Seiya hit a HR against Shota in the live BP.) I think he screwed up his 4 seam and splitter by trying to throw better sweepers. That might have caused the lower arm angle, too. Anyway, I think he will bounce back. Probably, not as good as 2024, but better than 2025.
  24. I don't worry about Jamo much. He had a HR problem earlier last year, almost as bad as Shota, and the same thing happened today. Somehow, he solved the problem later in the season.
  25. Four walks by Hodge in the same inning. He could get only one out. Ouch. Seiya should've caught the fly ball, though.
