  1. He’s also saying the excitement is not there about them if/when they make the postseason because of what we have been seeing the last month or so. Not just today, for those that are shortsighted; it’s been consistently average for quite some time now. I understand the guy’s comment about how their play has made it hard to get excited about their playoff chances once they enter October. 🤷‍♂️
  2. Happy Labor Day to all of my friends and foes on the NSBB forum! Regardless of some of our differences or what have you, one thing I can say is this - you are all passionate about your Cubbies! I enjoy the banter and discussions. No matter what else and how the team plays (and I vent and complain like some), We all can agree on this - GO CUBS GO! Maybe they can do what we are all hoping …….go on a terror and (to quote the movie Major League) “win the whole f***in thing!” have a great day folks 💪👍
  3. Totally agree! She has to advance her career when able. Just selfishly, hope she sticks around 👍
  4. I agree with you on the fact that baseball is one of the most unpredictable sports; therefore, you’re correct - any of those twelve that make the postseason could win it all (including the Cubs). Personally, I just see something off with the team MORE than some of the others you mentioned (Phillies, Dodgers and Padres just to name a few). Records do reflect a team’s overall performance of the season - no argument there. Again, not to beat a dead horse, but the Cubs’ inconsistency is what concerns me as a fan is all. 🤷‍♂️
  5. I saw that - honestly I had to do a double take. I hope she stays with Marquee - I do like the commentary with her and the guys.
  6. I agree with that statement and comment because they are clear cut facts. I agree - what Kelly, Seiya and PCA did wasn’t sustainable for long term. Totally agree….so are we an average team overall? I guess that is the question we as Cubs fans are a bit afraid to answer. I really do hope they can just find some consistency in their game. No doubt some guys are struggling more than others and that’s gonna happen, but at their core, are they just another average team that outperformed themselves early on to set them up for the playoffs? I’m not really sure ya know 🤷‍♂️Either way - GO CUBS!
  7. Exactly!I have said things like “this is not a slump - slumps you work out of eventually.” And guys have took odds with me saying that and made huge stinks about speaking the truth. They are going to make playoffs and are not a terrible team. They have the talent and potential; however, what many of us fans are seeing (those living in reality) is this: this team is “off” and this play since the break is more than a slump. Something isn’t right. I agree with you - it’s more than a slump and right now this team is showing us who they are. Hopefully they get right and play like they’re capable, but until then, just call it what it is. They’re playing like ass.
  8. I agree with your statement, “when someone watches one team(their team), they tend to see their flaws.” I appreciate your reply here @Rcal10. What you said makes a lot of sense, and we can both agree on this - GO CUBS!
  9. So much negativity in here - I can’t believe what I’m hearing. I see you guys don’t get the trolls in here like I do (those positive Peters and all). Teams go through slumps and struggles, but this team is beyond struggling. There is something clearly “off” and there is absolutely nothing wrong with voicing your discontent with your team when they’re playing like straight cheeks. One thing about being positive and another thing to bury your head in the sand and act like this inconsistent play is “something all teams go through.” No - a slump you get out of…this is much more than that. Hoping they can turn it around and get right, but like many of you loyal fans, you see there is something wrong too.
  10. And I will be the first one to admit I was wrong. I guess we will wait and see. I HOPE they can win a postseason series against one of those teams I mentioned. I am simply stating what I SEE. I see a team that overachieved in the first half of the season and have struggled mightily since the break (not uncommon for any team), but there is something “off” and you guys can have your opinion and I’ll have mine. We can agree to disagree I guess. Either way - win or lose, Go Cubs! Hope they can turn it around and win some playoff series.
  11. Yeah, he’s been shaky last few outings with his control
  12. Where is my buddy on here that argued with me about how PCA’s elite defense is enough to warrant him not sitting out some games?? No doubt the kid is talented, especially in the field, but this guy is a liability anymore at the plate! It’s ridiculous- sit him already or make some changes. Do something Craig
  13. That’s a really good point lol - never thought of it, but you’re correct ✅
  14. I do not care what this team’s record is at the moment - yes, they will most likely (barring some sort of colossal meltdown) make the postseason. However, this is not a good baseball team right now. Quite honestly, I’m not seeing it changing anytime soon. Very little life - poor management, inconsistent bats and a shaky pitching staff. They have had a nice season overall, but they will NOT contend with teams like Milwaukee, Dodgers, Padres, Phillies or even the Mets come the playoffs. There will be people that will feel the need to comment and argue this point and that’s fine, but either way - I just try to go off what I see and keep it real. This team is subpar despite their record.
  15. He pitched 1/3 inning. Running into the ground - another inning wouldn’t set him back. Where was thielbar? I get the fact it was a cozy lead but man it was getting ugly quick. I do hear you though. Don’t want to burn them out.
  16. Counsell does this - why not just roll with Keller and finish this to go home. Incompetence
  17. Counsell is an idiot - any reasonable coach just goes with a guy, but he likes to try and be the smartest guy in the room.
  18. I won’t argue that with you - solid points. What I’m simply asking is this: would you trust him in a tight game? I’m quite certain the answer is hell no. So - to my point…..he is only good for garbage innings against terrible lineups, and even then he’s a liability. Oh, and the Paul Skenes comparison to Ben Brown is……let’s just say, ludicrous. Cade Horton is a rookie and learned those “ropes” pretty quick, oh and this guy from Milwaukee (also a rookie) also learned those proverbial ropes quite well too. I could go on. Brown has had enough chances to show that he’s not an MLB pitcher. So we can agree to disagree
  19. This inning? lol how about 95% of the times he’s pitched this year. What favor do they owe that guy? Or maybe it’s nepotism of sorts. I just don’t get it - they keep “hoping” but he keeps showing them he’s not an MLB pitcher.
  20. I understand these are garbage innings, but is it me that feels Ben Brown just doesn’t cut it? Personally, these are the ONLY types of games I feel remotely comfortable with him. He’s terrible
  21. This team outperformed themselves the first half of the season. Period. The way they’re playing now is who they truly are in my opinion. IF they make the playoffs, they’ll be like the Dallas Cowboys- one and done anyway.
