  1. So glad to see the team getting back on track like any Cubs fan, but yes - Matt Shaw! I was rooting for that kid since the start, and like you said, so great to see him coming into his own at the plate and in some sense leading this team. Class act too - good team win tonight. It’s nice to see
  2. I know this is nearly 24 hours later lol, but I totally agree with your statement. I made a similar statement and was met with resistance from a few people. There are number guys (guys that rely totally on data:statistics, and then there’s just people that go with the hot hands). I am not saying to never use stats and data/numbers, but some managers tend to complicate and overthink these situations. Ride with what is working - just my thoughts too. Go Cubs! It was great to see some signs of life offensively last couple games 👍
  3. Can’t argue that - that is baseball analytics 101. Again, they’re the managers and I’m a fan watching, but those numbers may increase in going with a hot batter is all. Just my thoughts. I’m just glad to see some offense!! Pitching has been doing such a great job even with the offensive woes
  4. I don’t disagree with you - you have a kid hitting well and making solid contact, so why not ride with him. I know you can’t predict results, but how did those “results” work out? I just think they overthink the numbers too much.
  5. I understand the thinking of the righty lefty deal, but the kid is swinging a hot bat - I totally disagree with that move personally, but I’m not the manager so 🤷‍♂️
  6. Please - someone make sense of Counsell’s decision of pinch hitting for Caissie with a 41 year old (or however old) with Caissie swinging a hot bat?? Is it me - am I the o my one that takes issue with that as a fan? Just checking lol
  7. I definitely agree - @Derwood did mention yesterday that they have been extremely luck and fortunate in many instances, and I do agree with him to a point; however, they are solid in all facets of the game. They hit, solid defense, managed well, and have good starting and relief pitching. On paper, the Cubs should be 9 games up on them, but obviously that’s not what’s happening. On another note - good on you, Owen Caissie!
  8. Instead of quoting others - please share your expertise as to why they win games. I for one, would love to hear your analysis- not quoting other people with your sarcasm. Offer your version as to what they do differently or what the Cubs are or nate not doing. I would like to hear your thoughts.
  9. I deserve it often times so I get it lol - one guy called me out on using the word coddling too much - he was right in doing so! It was getting g out of hand 😂
  10. I am a Cubs fan who happens to live near Philly, yes sir. What some of the simpletons on this forum failed to understand is that I referenced hiw Philly fans react to their players when they lack hustle and production. They’re relentless. Not supporting it - simply stating that the boo birds are a part of the game, and if Tucker can’t handle that it’s going to be rough for him in certain cities. Chicago fans are usually pretty forgiving, but they’re frustrated. That’s all my friend - that’s the measuring stick, guy
  11. Good point, Wilson. That would make more sense than, “struggling mightily” which is evident.
  12. Good valid point, Banedon. Can’t argue that - I love how you called me out with the “coddling” usage lol. Kudos to you for that too. I admit, it was overused quite a bit today. I do hope the guy gets his head right and comes out and hits like we all know he can. I appreciate the comment and feedback, as well as the call out 🤟🏼
  13. Seriously? Really?? Our golden child needs multiple games off because he’s “struggling mightily?”” PCA struggled pretty friggin mightily too; however, he’s working through his rough patch, along with other players. This isn’t a form of coddling? My goodness. I’m obviously the minority here most likely, but whatever
  14. Totally agree with this post! If you’re a Milwaukee fan, how much are you loving the fact of them shedding that dead weight and keeping a real leader in Pat Murphy. I agree with you in the fact that a manager has a certain mentality and presence no matter the sport and can still demand excellence and not settle for subpar performances from your team for the better part of a month. He is a shell of a manager and says things like, “It’s all fine” when clearly it’s a cluster!
  15. Thank you for your comment - I’m guilty as charged indulging in the “crossfire” on disagreements with some of the bloggers on here and it’s to no point. Bottom line is this - you gather a bunch of frustrated fans in one forum and the negativity tends to build because your team is playing like straight cheeks right now. You are correct though - let people enjoy their own commentary and venting and avoid engaging in arguments. Thank you for the reality check 💪
  16. 💯 agree with that, but to dismiss the fact that some are doing in this chat that they don’t play good solid baseball is just plain dumb
  17. Because weak ground balls finding holes led to their 14-game win streak? I’m a meatball because I’m engaging with idiots like you in here - that’s why I’m a meatball. That part I would agree with you 🤷‍♂️
  18. That’s right! A team on a 14 win streak is “lucky” - not that they have talent and play good baseball. They score runs because they play a better game than the teams they face. And I am the proverbial “meatball”
  19. I agree with your comment - yes I do realize it. No control whatsoever. Just simply stating that fans, like you too pal, get frustrated and if they boo they boo. Part of the game. Surely you must have realized this by now?
  20. My man Derwood - Here is my logic: it’s really simple. When a guy hits a grounder to the first base side and drags his ass and feels sorry for himself and puts his ego above effort, he deserves to get booed if that happens. I live near Philly - they (fans) let their guys know when they give little to no effort or feel sorry for themselves. In addition to your “should fans get a say in trades etc” - good try gaslighting because you seem like you’re a smart enough guy to know that wasn’t my analogy so I’m disappointed in you 😝 Fans have a right to let a player know that lack of effort or a job done half assed deserves to be called out. Do better, Derwood….do better
  21. I do appreciate your humor and retort lol - However, who ultimately pays for all of it pal? Fans do. Owners have lots of money generated from ticket sales, merchandise sales, tv ratings etc (hope you’re able to follow where I’m headed here). So - ever hear the phrase, “customer is always right?” Ownership wants to keep who happy ultimately? Guys that bring in money and how does that happen? That’s right my friend - the fans.
  22. So you’re a “power of positive thinking “ 💭 kinda guy? Cool - then there’s reality. When people play like trash or don’t produce at their “jobs” whatever that may be it’s okay to tell them they’re not getting the job done. They have a coach that is incompetent and says things like “everything is fine” when clearly it’s a cluster. Tucker dragging his backside to first base feeling sorry for himself is unacceptable. Period. You hear fans boo Hoerner? Nope - wanna know why? The guy plays with heart and is team oriented. Tucker is not that guy and fans want his effort. A coach with balls would want the same. So you keep up your positive energy bud - I’ll keep it real and honest here
