  1. How about bringing back a version of the "Cuba" road uniform of the early 90s?
  2. The Cuba script is cool, but they've got to lose the walking cub. Instead they ought to use the cub holding a bat, that made its debut in the Chance era and was revived in the 20s. As for retro unis, the suits of the 1937-39 era are the best Cubs of all time.

  4. I subscribed to Extra Innings on directv for 3 years. But when I got high def, the picture on both hd and standard def were horrible. So I switched back to cable. Everything is great now and I won't go back to directv, even for Extra Innings. If I can't get it on cable, so be it.

  6. I stopped collecting autographs at the age of 15, so this dates me. Got most of them hanging around the Del Prado Hotel, where visiting AL teams stayed. They are all in a cheap, ragged autograph book, and include: Ted Williams, Joe Dimaggio, Lou Boudreau, Hank Greenberg, Luke Appling, Ted Lyons, Monte Stratton, Johnny Vandermeer, Ed Lopat, Vic Raschi, and Joe Page. Cubs include Bill Nicholson, Charlie Grimm, Andy Pafko, Roy Smalley, and the immortal Emil Verban.
  7. Stone's arrogance wouldn't work as either a manager or as a gm. In fact, Bob Brenly is a better on the air analyst than Stone ever was. He has insights in all facets of the game, not just pitching. I like Dusty, but if he doesn't last the season, we could do lot worse than Brenly as manager. Look what he did with the D-backs.
  8. One more suggestion: Use the sleeveless tops as an alternate uni. After all, the Cubs were the first to go sleeveless, back in 1940.
  9. The "Cuba" uniform of the early 90s was the best Cubs road uni. It was dropped ostensibly because the script looked like the Cuban national team. As for the home suit, I think the current uni has become as much a classic as the Yankees, Red Sox, and Cardinals. My only suggestion would be to replace the walking bear with the standing bear with bat from the 1930s. And lose the blue tops.
  10. I've watched him in about 3 games this season. He still stands a long way from the plate, at the far end of the batter's box. I can't recall another hitter standing so far away. Sammy's decline can be traced back to the beaning by Salmon Torres. His resulting slump led directly to the corked bat, and it's been a slippery downhill slope ever since. He's done.
  11. Is Jeff Pentland still the hitting coach in KC? If so, that would be an incentive for Sammy to give the Royals a big hometown discount. Hopefully he hasn't squandered all his $$$ and will play for pride and 600 homers rather than demanding lots of dollars.
