  1. Good move by Hendry. If you can't get Prior for two years, trade him or let him go. This just makes too much sense.
  2. 10 pages! I told you. Silliness.
  3. Your guess is as good as mine. If the Cubs land Fukudome, I think they will be more willing to trade Pie especially if Colvin is progressing. Hendry keeps saying Pie is untouchable, but I got to believe if Hendry becomes desperate for Brian Roberts, he'll put Pie in that deal. With Pie, Theriot and the pitcher's spot, the lineup has 3 automatic outs (save for Z). Theriot is now an "automatic out?"
  4. Great. Another 10 page thread bashing Theriot.
  5. His fastball is down to 94 or so, which is fast enough if he could change speeds. He can't. Also an injury risk.
  6. There are no guarantees in baseball. You have to take chances.
  7. Murton, like Choi before him, was the golden child of this board. I have never quite figured out why either.
  8. I mean, I don't blame the number-crunchers, the computer geeks, for not being able to come up with a formula for how we got here. But there's a lot more that goes into sports than numbers. --Arizona outfielder Eric Byrnes
  9. GEOVANY SOTO is offended. Soto did some good things, and he is clearly our catcher next year, but he batted .167 for the series with one hit. I know that hit was a home run, and he did look like our tallest midget, but let's not make his series out to be better than it was....
  10. what don't I get? I thought he was just pissed, that's all.
  11. anything is possible, but bad is bad. Toast.
  12. Zambrano was on auto-pilot, there was no reason to pull him. You don't pull a starter that YOU KNOW is dominant AT THAT TIME, even if it's for your best reliever. You don't know whether Marmol has his stuff or not that night, but you KNOW Zambrano does. Ok, I understand what you're saying and we can debate that. But to say that Lou was trying to lose or concede the game, that's just plain assinine. Lou was absolutely playing for Game 4 by taking him out at 85 pitches. How about we try to win one first? Those aren't mutually exclusive. Marmol was less likely to give up runs in the 7th than Z. Exactly!
  13. I respectfully ask: what good would it do for us on this message board to get "pissed off"? Webb is a fine pitcher. He beat us. On to game 2. as an aside, doesn't the internet breed enough "pissed off" people that we don't have to be begging for more? :)
  14. fastball was the right pitch. Marmol has a fine fastball, you can't throw all sliders. He just got his fastball up.
  15. We have a choice not to "accept it"? What difference does it make. A # 1 pitcher threw well against us. On to game 2.
  16. Webb was very good last night. Just accept it and move to game 2.
  17. His stuff was very good last night. It is what it is. He handled us. Why are you so angry?
  18. well, experience does help, regardless of what many say.
  19. I continue to say that Marmol throws way too many sliders. He is almost afraid to throw his fastball, unless he is behind in the count. Hitters are now laying off his slider or waiting for the hanger.
  20. Why would I be worried about any of our pitchers? What happens, happens. Let's not sound so wimpy. Our fans have become the wussies of all sports fans, worried about what lurks around every corner. Let's play the games and see what happens, not worry about every possible problem.
  21. and a decided Eurotrash feel with names like Alfonso, Geovany, Jacque, Aramis, and Theriot; that could be the VIP list at a Prague disco. great line.
