  1. Just so you know, I heard that before the convention on 720 at about 2:20. It was not at the convention. Also, do you know where Zambrano was? He was supposed to be at the sportscentral thing but he didn't show up.
  2. I'm under 21 so I really didn't pay attention. It did seem kinda pricey but we figured it would be even more so inside the convention.
  3. I'm totally not surprised by this. I thought that everyone here would love that quote.
  4. Oh yeah, two things I forgot to say. On the way to the convention I heard an interview with Dusty on 720, I believe, where he said that Hollandsworth would get a majority of the playing time in left field since he had proven himself. He said that Dubois would have to prove himself before he got alot of playing time. Also, I was suprised at how much cheering there was when they asked Woody who broke the boombox. Don't want to turn this into a debate or anything but it struck me as weird.
  5. Well, my friend and I arrived at the convention at around 3 and had no idea where to go since it was our first convention. So we just wondered around for a little bit. I bought Cubs skull cap that I had been looking for for the longest time. We also picked up a couple of the believe wristbands. Finally we asked somebody where we were supposed to go to get the program and they told us downstairs. So we picked up our programs and stuff (both of us lost the random autograph thing) and walked over to the merchandise area. I got a pretty sweet Felix Pie futures game card that was signed by him for 10 bucks. I’m still pretty psyched about getting that. Around 4 we decide that we were hungry so we went to the south loop club. Pretty good food but unfortunately it took way too long to eat and we got out of there at 5:05. Whoops... When we get back to the Hilton, we find out that the ballroom is filled and that they aren't letting any more people in. :( Least to say, we were very disappointed. So we just walked around some more and looked at more merchandise. Finally at 5:45, we try to find maps for the autograph scavenger hunt (which is the last thing I would call it). We decide to get into a random line because it is for an autograph. I checked by the area that the person was supposed to be at 5:55 or so and there was nobody there. Finally at around 6 or so the line starts to move. It turns out that we got Mike Bielecki (who is very ripped still) and Rick Wilkins autographs. That was pretty cool. So we went back to the area where they had the main autograph lines and was in line for Zimmer. After about 5-10 minutes when he left and everyone in the line booed. So we moved over to the next line where Kevin Tapani and Mickey Morandini resided. The ushers said that they were stopping in 5 minutes and it was still about 4 rows deep but we thought, why not try at least. So at 7, the ushers tell the two that it is time to go. They both get up and Micky leaves saying that he has some sort of prior engagement. Tapani, however, says that he will stick around until the remaining 20 people get their autographs. I don't hate Micky at all for what he did but Tapani really gained alot of respect as a person from me. He didn't have to do what he did but he is a really nice guy. So after the autograph fiasco, we went over to the ballroom with the radio show to see what was up there. We got there just as they were introducing Kerry Wood. It was pretty cool to see the guys in person, without their cubs stuff on. We stayed for the rest of the pitchers interview and then left before Dusty came on stage. The ride home was a pain but not as bad as I was expecting. Hearing Walker and Dempster joke around on the radio definitely made the trip alot more enjoyable. I loved the Harry impression btw. Sort of wish I would have stayed for that but at least this way I get to go to bed early. On a whole, I enjoyed my first day of the convention but they really could have done a better job of saying where stuff was going on at. It was pretty hectic but I will know what is going on more tomorrow so it should be much more enjoyable. I am looking forward to getting an autograph from and meeting Carlos. That would definitely be the highlight of my day. Sorry if there is really bad grammar or anything like that in here…
  6. Everyone thought that he was crazy when he took curry and chandler out of the starting lineup. I think that the man knows what he is doing and am going to give him a break on this one. Remember, while this team may be doing well right now, they are still a very young team and are not going to go that far if/when they get into the playoffs. I am fine with Skiles sending messages to his players whenever he feels that they would be most effective. With that being said, I would also like to see Gordon on the floor because the only way that he is going to change is through playing time.
  7. I'm guessing take better care of the ball and stop missing shots. Maybe there was something in there about tipping too. :) They didn't say that just said that he wanted to send a message and that it wasn't the right time to send one.
  8. Anyone? Cause Skiles wanted to send a message to Gordon more than likely. That's what they were saying on the radio a bit ago.
  9. I take back what I said a bunch of pages back about them not running the court and being a boring team. I watched two of their last three games and must have just really been at a bad game last monday.
  10. About Ben, aparently he said that lately he is having problems with his stamina and can't keep up with the pace of the games after a while. I'm really not seeing how he is having a problem with this after the game today...
  11. I was at that game today and that was the most boring basketball game that I have ever watched. The tempo of the game was so ridiculously slow the entire time. Somebody needs to teach the Bulls how to run a fast break. Perhaps they should bring Deron Williams and Dee Brown in there to coach the team for a day. Add to that the fact that the refs were calling fouls every other trip down the court. I know that the Bulls won but much of my excitement that I was feeling towards this team is gone. Once they get into tougher opponents than the Warriors, they will start dropping games again. Oh yeah, somebody tell Tyson Chandler that he can actually run and he should try it every once in a while. There was one play were there were 4-5 rebounds under the hoop and he never crossed half court cause he was waiting for one of his teammates to get it. I’m not sure if it is just the NBA in general or just those two teams but I really miss the good old days of MJ and Pippen running fast breaks and getting easy buckets. btw, did you guys know that MJ had a 41 inch vertical? That’s crazy…
  12. Please do! And GO BULLS! I have never been to UC. I went to a few Bulls games in the old arena before I moved out of Chicago. It's a nice stadium. And you haven't seen the starting lineups until you see them at the game. TV doesn't do them justice. Argh, I wish I could have gone back in the MJ days. I do have an audio and video clip of the starting lineups on my computer. :) Those tickets were a pain to get a hold of though. You basically had to buy them through a broker. I remember for a couple years in a row I was basically calling in non-stop for 3-4 hours and never got through. The two times I went, my aunt gave the tickets to me as a present and had to get them through a co-worker that had season tickets for the longest time. It was pretty sweet though... :)
  13. I have to say, Paxson is really regaining my faith in this organization. I have not really watched all that much Bulls basketball since the end of the 1998 season and am still a little mad at the way things ended. However, this is the first time that I enjoy rooting for since the Jordan era. I have always loved Hinrich, back to the days when he was playing at Kansas. Gordon has really impressed me with his play lately. The game today shows what a great player he is and how important he is to this team. As soon as he fouled out of the game, the whole thing fell apart. I think that Ben is going to become one of the better guards in the league. The two big fellas are also starting to play like their draft picks would indicate. Curry is actually playing like he belongs in the NBA. I also think that Deng is going to mature into a good player. He is one of those players that was just understands how to play the game. I think that in a year or two, this team will be contending in the playoffs for a while. They are the youngest team in the league, if I am not mistaken, and are loaded with players with a large amount of upside. They sort of remind me of the Bears defense in a way but the Bears can't score so that doesn't really make a difference. Anyways, I am going to my first Bulls game since 1997 on Janurary 10th and I am really looking forward to it. It's been a while since I have been this excited about the team.
  14. Did anybody else notice that he had 10 wild pitches in 300 batters? Now I know that his catcher might not be the greatest due to the lack of talent in the league, but that still seems like a huge amount of wild pitches. Sort of scares me since he is 27 years old.
  15. ok, just a thought. I like the look of the whole collapsing/expanding forum thing.
  16. Just a thought, maybe you should make it so that the non-premium members can see the premium only icons but can't post them. This might reduce some confusion in a thread that might occur.
  17. What's the deal with Michael Barrett contract-wise. I look at the contract database that cpatt20 sent out and it only has him as a 1 year contract. Yet, he is not on your free agent list. Is he still under arbitration? Thanks.
  18. Does anybody know a good Seattle Mariner Website/forum that has good info about their minors? Thanks.
