  1. Seriously, at one point or another, they have to let them play. This is ridiculous.
  2. I was pretty suprised when I heard his name as well. He's pretty old now..
  3. Why is the army enlisting people on the court at the bulls game?
  4. No Sosa talk in the Bulls thread [-X This is the happy thread :D Go Bulls im calling a Hinrich triple double, with a 10 point victory!!GO BULLS Only 10?
  5. Bump up for the game tonight! I really need to be able to do something other than talk about the Cubs because this is really starting to depress me. Bulls vs Celtics at 7:30 CT on the the Superstation. Time to avenge the loss from a week and a half ago. Should be a pretty good game. Looks to be pretty much sold out. Go Bulls!
  6. Does Philly still have one? If so, when was the last time they won a nba championship?
  7. Welcome aboard, Cubman! That was definitely my impression of Hendry. He seemed to be in a good mood all weekend and despite sometimes being with family, he took his time to talk to people and sign autographs. I got similar impressions of MacPhail and McDonough, as well. It was a nice surprise to actually see managment in a cheerful and personable mood! Glad you got to the Z line and I'm even more glad you brought up Edmonds. While I'm hoping Bonds is actually in the lineup when Zambrano pitches against the Giants this season, I'm really looking forward to some Z/Cardinals matchups. I haven't posted this for a while because I didn't really think I should but why not... Some of you may know this or not, but Jim Hendry and Oneri Fleita both live in Park Ridge. Well, a family friend of mine is good friends with both of them. Her kids go to the same school was the Hendrys and Fleitas kids. They play together all the time and actually made her kids cubs fans quite quickly :) . She talks to Oneri and Jim frequently and has told me several times what good people they are.
  8. I am pretty sure that none of those pictures were presented today. Two of those pictures were shown today but they were also presented at a previous time. One thing that confirms this for me is the fact that they use chicagosports.com as a source. That website doesn't have any recent articles about Wrigley and there are no pictures in their convention photo thing. It's a pretty crappy site, but it does have a nice collection of photos (obviously culled from the Trib) from the past few years of Wrigley renovation talk. The previously released pics I referenced were these: http://www.wrigleyexpansion.com/images/1.jpg http://www.wrigleyexpansion.com/images/2.jpg http://www.wrigleyexpansion.com/images/3.jpg I know, all of those were shown earlier this summer.

  10. I need to get myself one of those snazzy frames for my Zambrano autograph. :)
  11. How did the expansion pictures look in person? What did they say was going to be in the new building? I thought that the bleacher expansion and first base dugout seating looked pretty good as I said earlier. The exterior of the building on the outfield wall will look ALOT better. There will be a new wall that is about 3-6 feet further out but it is brick and apparently they are going to bring in some specialist to grow the ivy on the outside because it is a pretty hard thing to do in a short amount of time. The bleachers looked pretty good to me as well. They blend in with the current bleachers and really don't look all that much bigger than they are now. Now keep in mind that these were just drawings so it is still hard to tell this translates to when they actually build it. Now, the triangular building, I am not so hot about that... I'm not really a fan of the design and all of the glass that it uses. They really should do more of an old school look that blends in with the stadium. I think that if they did it correctly, the building would be a great addition. The extra amenities would be very helpful for the fans. I think that if they build it the way that they have it designed now, it would look similar to Soldier Field if you get my drift. :(
  12. I was going to post the audio but Jon beat me to it. They are 32 minutes long and about 5.5mb apiece. The pictures of the drawings, players I saw, and my two autographs that I got can be found here (33 pictures in total): pictures Some of the pictures may be blurry. As I said earlier in the thread, it is next to impossible to take clear pictures in that place. The lighting was absolutely horrible, especially during the management report slide show where the lights were dimmed and they were flying through the pictures. note: the pictures may take a couple hours to be posted on the page. second edit: if you click on the picture you get an enlarged view. You can then click on view full size to see them in the 2048x1536 original size.
  13. the recording of the audio is done. The sound quality is pretty good. I decreased the quality to 24 kbs so that an hour of audio is only 11 mb and it sounds about the same as before. Jon is going to post it on his website but you can also get it from me over aim if you wish to do so. I will now decrease the size of my pictures since they are currently 1.3 mb apiece and 2048x1536. :)
  14. Did anyone ask why similar improvements aren't slated for the third base side? I imagine they'red be no place to put the tarp ... I assumed that they were for both side of the field...
  15. I thought that all of the plans for the improvements looked extremely good to be honest. I am one of those people that doesn't like to see Wrigley changed but I would not be against the changes (bleacher and past the dugout) if they were done like the drawings showed them. The brick with ivey along the outside bleacher wall would look dope.
  16. Make sure in the program you're using that the recording source is set to "microphone" or whatever jack the microphone is plugged into (such as "line in"). Also, open up the Windows volume controls and make sure that source isn't muted. After I tinkered around with the settings for a while, I figured out what the problem was. It is recording right now and should be ready in about an hour. Unfortunately it will only be mono due to the way that the recorder works and the fact that I don't know how to do some sort of virtual stereo.
  17. hmm...if anybody knows anything about recording stuff over the microphone in windows let me know either by pm or over aim. I talked to Jon about it but for some reason it isn't working.
  18. I promised that I would come back bearing gifts and I have done so. First of all, I have a bunch of pictures of the planned expansion of wrigley and of Jason Dubois, Jon Leicester, Oneri Fleita, and John Stockstill. Secondly, I will have an audio of the down on the farm section. I brought my microcassette recorder with me and the quality sounds pretty good on the speaker that it has. I actually taped the management section first but forgot to bring a second tape with me. Since Jon took notes from the management section he told me to record the down on the farm section. About Carlos, my friend and I got to the line about 5 minutes before they closed it off. I didn't actually meet him, though, because I left line to get an 8x10 picture for him to sign and was not allowed back in by the ushers. Still, the autograph was plenty for me. I'll take a picture of it and put it with the pics from the management section and of the prospects. Carlos was signing autographs and taking pictures with people for an hour and twenty to forty minutes. I was quite impressed that he showed up and that he stayed for that long. He certainly made my weeked.
  19. One last story from the convention. During the Pitchers and Catchers segment, somebody asked the panel if they would shake hands with Moises Alou during the season. Michael Barrett answered the question saying that he knew what the person was referring to and that the whole story was untrue. Apparently, Moises was doing BP one day and this guy keeps coming up to him and asking to shake his hand. Moises wanted to concentrate so he kept telling him no. Finally he had enough and he made up this story about how he urinated on his hands to scare the guy off. Apparently, the writer that wrote the story overheard this and wrote the article. The rest is history. Kind of sounds far fetched but you never know.
  20. If the Cubs themselves aren't being that optimistic about Guzman's health, that is very worrying. It is good to see Renyel Pinto and Sergio Mitre get some love though. It also makes me wonder if Mitre could win the 5th starter's job. :-k Well, it is Dusty...

  22. They were selling them in the official merchandise area. They looked...weird...
  23. It was next to impossible to take a good picture in that place. The lighting is just really messed up.
  24. Well, I think Jon is going to cover pretty much everything I had to say since, probably more accurately too since he was sitting there with a notebook the whole time. A few notes though. First, Jon you were right about the whole not for women only section. There were a couple of humorous questions but for the most part it was stupid stuff like what is your bedroom like and do you shave your back or chest. One of the funny questions was when they asked if you could have any body part from a teammate, who it would be and which part. So Dempster says that he would just take Kyle Farnsworth's body. To which they ask if he would want his arm. Dempster responds that he is fine with his, thank you very much. I also caught the tail end of the pitchers and catchers event. I thought it was pretty funny when a kid asked Barrett what he says to Zambrano when he goes to the mound since most of the time Carlos is pretty crazy out there. Barrett responds that most of they time he doesn't even know what he is going to say. That Carlos is usually pretty animated when he is on the mound but that he really grew up during the year. At the beginning of the year he would just go out there yelling at him. He would talk to him in Spanish since he knows some. Apparently, one time he actually just went out to the mound cursing at Zambrano in Spanish. After a while he realized that Carlos is alot bigger than he is so he stopped doing that. Barrett said that by the end of the year he really didn't have to yell at him anymore. Also, Carlos did show up by the end of the day at least because he was at the kids only press conference.
  25. I will write mine up after I get back from dinner. I did write a rant about sosa at the convention if you want to read that...
