  1. 12/1 PTI interviewed Mark Cuban, he was asked if he would be interested in purchasing the Cubs. He said he thinks the Trib needs to figure out how to sell first. When and if the are willing to spin off the Cubs, he would be a person who would be interested in talking with them. Someday, I hope this works out! (please note: that was not a direct quote, but a pretty good summary of his thoughts)
  2. While we are at it, let's have our Bullpen start the game, pitch the first 1-2 innings and then bring in the rotation guys to finish it off.
  3. That is less than 100 hits per day. Translation, that sucks!
  4. Can you tell me how the Cubs front office made Prior's shoulder "loose"? They hired Dusty, Dusty overpitched Prior in '03, Prior's shoulder has never been the same since 211.1 innings in 03.
  5. Washed up, done, AND finished.....dang. Somebody should have warned Carpenter. When he was 26 he had a 6.26 ERA in 175 innings. In 02 it was 5.28 in 73 innings, and he didnt pitch at all in 03. He was was probably just washed up and done though. Well, I would love to be wrong and hope I am. However reality hits home when you read reports of his shoulder being loose and surgery could be an option. One if not his last start was in Milwaukee and he looked like a college pitcher! I hope things change, but I have a feeling he will never regain his 03 form.

  7. He had a +7 ERA last year and pitched under 45 innings. He will never be the same pitcher again. Washed up, done... finished!
  8. Looks like Hendry wants to talk to Soriano about playing winterball. This time JH, just say no!
  9. Raises the question... Do we have any interest in trying to aquire Penny?
  10. the Brewers should stop looking the gift horse in the mouth and just give Brady Clark 700 PAs out of centerfield. I hadn't hear the Brewers were pursuing any FAs. so much for my wild Bill Hall theories. I ran into Brady Clark recently at a local Barnes & Noble. He picked up several boating magazines then walked by me, so I quickly stopped him. I mentioned to him how much I appreciated the way he played and that it would be great if he played for the Cubs. He was pleasant, thanked me for my kind words and said, "There is no better place to play than Wrigley."
  11. Looks like a 3 year deal. Also appears Milwaukee misses out on someone they wanted, again. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=535007
  12. But that isn't a source. It's just Rotoworld's personal speculation and they are very often wrong when it comes to that. Rotoworld should only be used for their black print and almost all blue print should be ignored. If you follow the link Phil Rodgers (I know) mentions Boras possibly waiting for the Cubs to "ante up" before the Red Sox sign Drew. It won't happen, but I wish it would!
  13. I hope this source is correct and Bruce Miles is wrong. I would love to see Drew sport'n Cubbie blue. Then again, we still need to address pitching!
  14. Over 60 million tied up in Peirre and Nomar... Ha Ha!
  15. Not happening with the Cubs. He's played for three big-league managers and none of the three has been fond of him. His most recent manager was in the Cubs system as a coach. I'm sure they still talk. So no, he's not coming here. Bruce, we are going to need stats to understand what you are saying. No, I don't care about Batting Avg, HR's or even RBI's. Please help us understand what your saying with stats.
  16. Surveys are nothing, but I did think this was interesting.... Link for full article: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=crasnick_jerry&id=2662662
  17. For #2, the Honorable Bruce Miles said with some certainty that he would be playing RF. Are they committed to J. Jones in CF or is that just smoke and mirrors? Sorry if this has been discussed. Heh, considering the thread size I'm sure it has. I am going out on a limb that Hendry finds another checkbook and signs Drew as well...
  18. POST OF THE YEAR! Nice work, I completely agree with everything you typed!
  19. I'm pretty sure Barrett wasn't caught stealing 17 times last season, either. I am also pretty positive Soriano didn't throw out 21 runners either. Bad comparison no matter how you look at it.
  20. Co-sign. Too many people expect Hendry to sign people like Soriano to 4 year deals, and trade crap like Roberto Novoa for something worthwhile. Would you be happy with signing Michael Barrett to a 7/100 extension? Of course not, because that would be a heinous overpayment to someone who is a good, but not spectacular offensive player and a below average defender. Soriano is the exact same thing, except we gave him the contract. Show me Barrett has this... and I will buy into your argument...
  21. I'm with you. Oh no...I'm agreeing with a Packer fan ;) Don't worry about it, it's ok...I am normal :)
