  1. should be an interesting game. Go Big Z!
  2. if all it takes for Burnett & Lowell is Penn, Julio and Bigbie then something is seriously wrong. Do we overvalue our prospects that much to where a package we could offer couldn't beat that?
  3. He is posting these numbers while repeating AA. BTW Raw, your point makes sense on Dope. I thought I read somewhere on here that he just pulled into the league lead in HR, or was that Harvey. I tend to lump them both together this season casue they have both had similar disappointing seasons. While they haven't been the "OMG" Type season we were expecting, they have been somewhat progressive and hopefully a "build" year that will produce better numbers next season.
  4. Seemingly we have one of these threads once a week and they go the same direction. Sammy Sox, he was on 'roids, cubs are dumb for signing him, what a waste, blah, blah ,blah. BTW Welcome! :D
  5. Congrats DJaxx, hopefully this will be your big debut and next year you and Ron can tag team! Great job as always and thanks for your graciousness with us out of town guys like me. Well Done
  6. When I talked to DJaxx he was saying that there is another auction in a couple of weeks so it was slow at first but the auctions were going until the 5th inning of the 2nd game so there was a long way to go. Any other news about it I will let DJaxx tell the story (don't want to steal his thunder). They had some good stuff that was autgraphed. Apparently lots of the Murton stuff was selling high. One note though that I don't think he would mind me telling is that they were auctioning off the ceremonial 1st pitch at an upcoming game. I think that is a great thing for charity. Imagine this being done once a week at wrigley and all teh proceeds going to JDRF. It would seem to be a no brainer and the company doing it would get a tax write off for a good cause. It could be called the JDRF first pitch (better the the 5th 3rd bank 5th inning)
  7. Just talked to DJaxx who is at the game and he says that the 2 3B have traded great plays both web gems! Sounds like a fun evening. I am jealous!
  8. Remember, Palmerio spent much of his "prime" years with Baltimore. How would we have felt now if we traded Grace to Texas and Kept Palmerio for 3 years then watched him walk, only to come back later. Kinda like we feel about Maddux. Sure we still love the guy and recognize that he was an excellent ballplayer for the Cubs but don't we wish we had him in the middle too? Imagine a core around Grace, Sandberg (never retiring in the middle), Maddux & Raffy. Add Dawson and Dunston in the mix and we have a pretty solid ball club.
  9. This Sox for Adam. I hope he gets better soon. He is a good Kid.
  10. I have no doubt that they will be able to deal him
  11. nevermind. It looks like Novoa & Ohman are up
  12. did you see his reaction? It was almost like he forgot to swing that was a pitch he needs to crush
  13. Buckner needs to be a hitting coach. Anyone else listening to his hitting philosphy on WGN?
  14. now isn't THAT intimidating? Whatever works for us eh?
  15. I think that this could be Hendry's way of getting the guy he really wants. Keep in the Dunn Sweepstakes and drive up the price and then go get Huff while the other teams are squabbling it out. Given our lineup with Lee & Ramirez in the middle of it for a few years, I would like to have Huff and slot him #5. Yes Dunn us a good ballplayer but Huff is of the same quality. He is in the ballpark talentwise.
  16. Hi Gentlemen, Thanks for the time. How did you get your film financed and distributed? Also how does it feel to see it have so much sucess and be deemed as the defivintive voice for your father's story and JDRF? What will be your next filmmaking subject? Do you want to be part of Hollywood or continue the independent route?
  17. I just can't believe that Sosa has 1 triple this year
  18. I can understand that. Like most of us were complaining, the 12 pitchers. I think that is hurting us more than it's helping us IMHO. As much as they talk about cutting the staff down to 11, I'd be quite surprised to see it happen. And for no reason other than to spite Grieve's OBP. Actually Greenberg isn't at the park I don't think. Pat mentioned earlier that in order for him to fly tonight he had to get an MRI for a concussion. If he plays today it would be a miracle. What are you talking about? He is on the bench I have seen him twice. Well considering that I am listening to Pat & Ron thus I can't see the game, I was going off of what I heard. Regardless the odds he is in the game are slim if he indeed had an MRI.

  20. I agree So would have Greenberg (probably, I'm not watching the game just chiming in for a fave)
  21. I actually like the idea of dealing Hairston. I wouldn't want Pie brought up but rather have Greenberg play. Hairston is a poor man's version of Chone Figgins and can be quite valuable to a team who uses him correctly ala Figgins and Freel. I would imagine that a team like SD would be an excellent place for him, especially if Loretta has trouble coming back. Hairston and Maddux for Klesko and Barfield? Entirely possible and an excellent deal for the Cubs. Greenberg is just as much of an OBP guy as Hairston. Greenberg plays MUCH better defense, especially in his natural position of CF. Otherwise, shoud Klesko be acquired moving Brunitz to CF for the rest of the season would work as well. Hairston is a solid role player who complains about his role. This is not a good situation and if he can be moved, do it. Greenberg is a much better solution anyway and I would rather him play over Hairston anyhow. Before the comment about Dusty not playing Greenberg because of experience, lets not go there. We all know the presumptions of the manager, there is no need to rehash it. Rather I would like to see anaylsis of the options presented. THanks!
