  1. I came looking for news and found pages of Wu-Tang Clan lyrics. A welcome development.
  2. Let me know when we can move past a vacuum of actual news and needless semantic battles and have everyone recite their favorite Wu-Tang Clan lyrics.
  3. Someone should Photoshop a Red Sox hat on Darwin Barney.
  4. Fred, has this thread passed the output of the last 81 games yet? Also, Bridesmaids was a very, very funny movie.
  5. It will be nice trading for Red Sox prospects instead of crusty Pirates and Orioles.
  6. There will be a minor league backup outfielder too gritty for his own good.
  7. LeBron and Bosh was just last year.
  8. Theo Epstein already signed. They haven't announced it yet because he enjoys reading pages of semantic gymnastics and people arguing past each other.
  9. Remember a few years ago when that guy called the Cubs public number and asked to speak to Jim Hendry? Then he told his assistant that the Cubs should sign Rich Harden? Then the secretary said they would look into it and to have a nice day? And then everyone laughed about how convinced he was that the Cubs were pursuing Harden? Then he told everyone to stop laughing at him because he had cancer? The Cubs ended up signing Harden the next day. Let's hope the guy in the purple shirt is the same dude.
  10. Because it evidently bears repeating: The Marlins gave two scrubs to the White Sox for their manager to quiet any complaints about obvious tampering. No compensation has ever been provided for a general manager. The Cubs will not set precedent with the face of their franchise.
  11. Bleacher Nation posted a funny article about a St. Louis guy conditioning his son to be a Cubs fan. http://www.bleachernation.com/2011/09/30/from-the-message-board-how-im-making-my-son-grow-up-a-cubs-fan/
  12. Both!
  13. The hidden tragedy of that play: The Neifi era does not exist if he doesn't hit that home run for the Rockies that afternoon.
  14. This season will look more successful after all the flotsam is jettisoned this offseason. There's not much room for things to get worse.
  15. Does anyone know if Pena earned Type B status yet?
  16. Looks like Castro will go .300/10/20 this year. It will nice in 2014 to have the equivalent of Shin Soo Choo at SS (or 2B).
  17. Isn't this misleading? How long have baseball executives/decision-makers been referred to as general managers? Apparently since 1934 for the Cubs. Ok, so GMs didn't exist in our most successful era... COINCIDENCE!?!!? I propose a COLLEGE OF GMS! Might as well close the thread, nothing is topping that.
  18. There's a fascinating HBO movie waiting to be made about the hubris of the last MLB umpire strike.
  19. I did not log onto this thread expecting rational discourse about victimless crimes. Solid.
  20. I love this thread because it tells me what I want to hear.
  21. Short version: Something > Nothing
  22. One of the prospects might be Jason Knapp. He's out for the season with a shoulder injury but had a high upside. It could be buying low in the ultimate high risk/high reward scenario. [EDIT]: Never mind. That's what I get for not refreshing.
  23. That's an ugly list. The good news is that there are enough new draftees and breakthrough seasons to offset the disappointments.
  24. Meanwhile Toronto basically turned Zach Stewart into Colby Rasmus. I'd make that trade.
