  1. i think i read somewhere that seibu would have until the 14th to decide, but i don't know whether itwould be publicized immediately
  2. i just looked at his reg. season final stats 49 hr 50 k that's ridiculous
  3. murton: lf cedeno: myh pref would be to keep him at ss, but with izturis here next year, he's best as trade bait. hill: #5 starter. i think he has little trade value still, he's too old for anything but 25 man role or trade. and i think he'll be pretty good. guzman: first one outta AAA marmol: in AAA marshall: trade, prolly w/ ronny. i don't have a problem with him, but i don't see him as special, and those are the guys to trade. plus he has, i think better value on market than hill. i think another team can be suckered for him.
  4. of the 6 pitches i saw in the top of the 5th of the aflac game, stock dropped the first 5
  5. eff! sulley beat me to it! FREEL FREEL FREEL!!! although i would pencil him in at leadoff, so i could get rid of slappy in CF. then pick up an impact corner OF bat. and then i wouldn't care who was at ss, as long as he was a ss and everything worked monetarily so we could get a frontline starter in FA.
  6. is anyone else annoyed at berman (and lesser, morgan) mockingly blaming everything on dusty?
  7. it's official. AP's moved a story on it. CINCINNATI (AP) — The Cincinnati Reds overhauled their rickety bullpen Thursday, getting Gary Majewski and Bill Bray in an eight-player deal that sent outfielder Austin Kearns and shortstop Felipe Lopez to the Washington Nationals. The Reds, hanging close in the NL Central race, also acquired shortstop Royce Clayton, infielder Brendan Harris and pitcher Daryl Thompson from the last-place Nationals. Clayton most likely would replace Lopez, who made the All-Star game last year.
  8. i would keep walker, offer arby and get a draft pick or two for what is supposedly a pretty good upcoming draft.
  9. i'm going to the next two boise games this weekend. anybody else gonna be there, and does anybody want me to watch for anything in particular?
  10. what do we have to trade to get miguel cabrera? i think we might be able to do it, if a thing or two fall into place. i would trade (in the offseason)(assuming dope performs to a level that puts him back in the prospect stratosphere) marshall, murton, dope and someone else. would it work? i think it could, though i'm not convinced? would you do it/would it be enough/ too much? sc
  11. i'm jazzed pawelek will be in the northwest league -- i'm hoping they'll also have bill rowell. my girlfriend and i are gonna see 'em in everett
  12. anyone know why this is happening?
  13. i was curious cuz i hadn't noticed his name in the lineup for awhile
  14. where'd he go? is he hurt? benched? sent down to extended spring training? or wherever it is they've got pawelek stashed before i get to see him at boise
  15. Sunnydoo said: the mariners do sexson, beltre and everett are batting .216, .202 and .225, respectively, w/ 8 combined home runs. everett's /427 slg easily paces the trio. they make, i believe, $29 million this year
  16. anybody else notice pie is in right field tonight? is this preparation for seeing felix take over for jacque at some point this season? i am against putting him in right over the long term, b/c his value will be lessened, but at this rate i'm pretty sure he'll be able to out-produce jones. and there wouldn't be a whole lot of hits dropping into 2/3 of the outfield with him ad pierre out there -- pierre would be able to shift over toward murton, even.
  17. much thanks
  18. am i just looking over his name, or has he not appeared anywhere yet? is he injured or what?
  19. i agree with wolf on most aspects of this thread, although i wouldn't have posted on this thread to bring up ill of the dead. athletes are not heroes1, and "playing the game" is nothing particularly special. that said, perhaps he had his own demons. we all have troubles, despite what i might think of stuff, we all have different situations. 1. don't even start me on the lingo equating athletes with people in a warzone. (e.g., fallen (euphemism in its own right), warrior, battle, etc.)
  20. i left lee out cuz i don't plan for him to go on the market.
  21. what would you do when current cubs come up for free agency in the next two years? who would you offer arby to in hopes of getting picks (and do you think they would be Type A or B)? who would you let walk? i definitely offer arby to: juan pierre (overrated, definitely will be a Type A, we have pie -- although if he struggles this year, i may rethink this) todd walker (he's obviously not in our future plans, and i think he's a type A if he doesn-t get hurt again -- grudzielanek was this year -- and after the way we've treated him this offseasonk, i can't imagine he'd want to come back, so it wouldn't be risky) questionable: kerry wood (i think i prolly would, and hope he doesn't accept, although worse things could happen. i really don't know whether he'd pull down a type A or B designation) barrett ((i believe after '07) i would, cuz he's gonna be, what, 31 that offseason. this is definitely a no-brainer if we can get a legitimate RF bat, lessening the need for strong production out of the C position. he should definitely be an A, so we'll get good return, and we'd be avoiding the inevitable 30s catcher decline. hairston ((after '07) if epatt is looking legit at that point, i think this would be a good move. a draft pick or two would be a solid return on jhj (who i'm thinking will be full-time 2b starter in '07) , and even if he took it, he might cost $3m and could take some pressure off epatt and help in the outfield again. williamson: his value to others depends on how he performs this year, but he's expendable to us with two setup men signed through '08 prolly nots: rusch: (('07) i think glendon wouldn't be able to command more on the market than he'd get out of arby, so we'd get no picks and be stuck with glendon for another year. definitely not neifi, for same reasoning as rusch [/img]
  22. the cubs have a high opinion of cedeno's glove, so that wouldn't keep him out of the lineup. IIRC, when the cubs put him on the 40-man roster after the 2003 season, hendry said anything he did with the bat was icing, or something to that effect. sc
  23. nomar. don't black cedeno, and don't move him to second. sc
  24. when considering nolasco's success or lack thereof at AAA, keep in mind that he was at boise w/sisco and hagerty. he then skipped low A. the next year he skipped AA. in two years, he went four levels higher. if he was going at the cubs' oft-used 1-level per year promo strat, this year he would be in -- wait for it -- AA. sc
