  1. Yep, this FO will never shop in the top end of town. It still doesn’t mean producing a top farm system and going to a Dansby level contract won’t put a very good team on the field. Just don’t expect $300 million contracts to be handed out.
  2. I am sure he could have but he didn’t. Maybe the FO did lie to him to get him on board and that would be this club in a nutshell. Right, the Cubs resources to be a better team aren’t being used. But the resources to pay Counsell $40 million has been used and maybe thats all Craig cared about. It’s no different to a FA taking the biggest offer with a loser instead of less to go to a winner.
  3. $40 million over 5 years is a hell of an offer to turn down. Money helps in a big way and all Counsell needed to do was leave a division rival with less resources.
  4. I vote for the next President of Baseball Operations guy to be Carter Hawkins, the man who looked dead inside at the Craig Counsell press conference. Dead inside is how Chicago Cubs fans are feeling. So it makes perfect sense.
  5. Doom boner? I must use that one.
  6. Can we all spend 2024 booing Milwaukee all year, in every ballpark? 2020 was a missed opportunity to do it to Houston, because horsefeathers you Covid.
  7. Site probably froze as you kept hitting Submit Reply.
  8. The Twitter comments are too much lol. Already writing off this potential signing. 🤦‍♂️
  9. You’re probably right and I am just being a conspiracy theorist about this. Anyway, what’s done is done. Hopefully we aren’t very far away from Jed doing something.
  10. I call BS on Ohtani offering these terms to everyone. If he did that, then it was industry knowledge and apparently big spenders like Mets and Yankees weren’t involved in this process. It barely makes sense why they wouldn’t be if Shohei was offering this great deal.
  11. Goodbye to anyone’s hopes of signing Yamamoto after this. But hey, at least they won’t need to do this in 12 months for Roki Sasaki when he’s paid peanuts anyway. 🤦‍♂️
  12. Surely that will back onto their payroll at the end of the contract, otherwise the Dodgers have just signed Ohtani to an incredibly team friendly contract. They already have and won’t give a toss about it in a decade. This just makes any Yamamoto signing the easiest decision for them.
  13. So what does this all mean exactly? Do the Dodgers suddenly have $68 Million on their payroll in 11 years from now and for the next 10 years after that?
  14. Photo of a person at the winter meetings but it’s obvious a different time period because of signage in the background of said photo. Kikuchi and the sushi restaurant. Ohtani on the plane. Shark tank dude actually on the plane. Morosi calling everything wrong. National guys following Morosi’s lead by all calling Ohtani to Blue Jays wrong (see, Ohtani and the plane). Ohtani and the $700 Million deal the very next day. Rosenthal comes out of nowhere to announce the deal hasn’t been done because of no Dodger acknowledgment (hours after Ohtani said he’s a Dodger). Bellinger’s model girlfriend posts from Toronto and Twitterers (X’ers?) already calling BS on it being from today. This winter can only be summed up one way:
  15. Richarlison scores for the first time in 6000 days and he pulls one out of the Antoine Griezmann school of horsefeathers goal celebrations. 😂
  16. Funny enough, Todd Boehly is a part owner of the Dodgers. And we’ve seen his spending with Chelsea. 😂
  17. Lol, Ken Rosenthal is being ridiculous now. Ohtani already said on instragram he’s signing for the Dodgers, it’s done.
  18. Shohei Ohtani when he steps foot in Anaheim for the first crosstown series…
  19. Drafted in 2006, MLB debut in 2008. Jansen was signed in 2004, MLB in 2010. I overlooked “last decade” when I saw Jansen on the list.
  20. How can you leave the best Dodger of them all out? Clayton Kershaw.
  21. Disappointed it wasn’t the Cubs but very happy it’s over. Now over to you Jed.
  22. WTF? Now that is a contract. 😳
