    The whole “Ohtani will hold it against teams that talk” thing has been blown way out of proportion. I truly doubt he is nope-ing out of signing for the Dodgers or Blue Jays because some stuff has leaked, unless he is a lunatic.

    I know what you mean with this but come 2025, Ohtani technically becomes two elite players. That is what the good thing with Shohei is, a club can spend money elsewhere (bullpen for example) because he occupies two positions and does them both at a high level.

    Surely it would crash from the excitement that Jason Heyward isn’t the most expensive contract in Cubs history anymore. 😛

    Yep, but unfortunately when one of these Twitter trolls does hit on something, that person will be used as a source for years to come. Like the person that got Quintana to Cubs correct (as well as all the other people without a Twitter account who predicted that one lol). You can put most of this stuff in the BS basket.

    You got to appreciate the Mets going 12 months early because this could have been them this year.

    The difference between a 5 year/$40 million contract and a 10+ year/$500 million is night and day for the Cubs. Unfortunately, this club continues to not want to sit at the big boy table. Very frustrating.

    Until Shohei official signs for a team, it’s all nonsense being spouted. Has anyone notice that the only team we seem to be reading about as being out of the race for Ohtani are the Cubs and not about other teams? Apparently the Cubs will be the busiest team this winter, so the Cubs are the team that sells clicks. Reading about the Giants potentially not getting Ohtani isn’t fun and reading about the Dodgers being the most likely team to get Ohtani isn’t fun.

    Dodgers are just down the road 😛 I personally can’t see it after years of being very good but playing for a very bad team. I guess anything is possible however.

    Having the Angels on these lists fills me with confidence that no one knows what is happening. I believe they are only on these national reporters lists because Ohtani played for them and not because they are a realistic option.

    Baseball seems to be the only sport in the world where fans say “there is always one player that holds up free agency” in December, when Baseball doesn’t officially come back until February. Tbf, Shohei Ohtani isn’t actually holding up anything.

    The only other team I can tolerate Ohtani going to are the Blue Jays, of the teams that sound like they are in the market for him.

    Rays telling clubs that Glasnow wouldn’t cost much isn’t the Rays doing other clubs a solid. It’s because they know that whoever they do get, they will just turn into the next Glasnow.
